Lovable Connects Its Entire Workspace to ChatGPT and Codex

Lovable is moving beyond its own chat interface. The vibe-coding platform has introduced a direct connection to ChatGPT, allowing builders to create, modify and inspect Lovable applications without leaving OpenAI’s interface.

The integration, announced on LinkedIn, connects a user’s entire Lovable workspace once and makes it accessible across ChatGPT’s Chat, Work and Codex environments. That gives users several entry points: they can turn research into an app, hand an existing prototype to Lovable for production features, or ask ChatGPT to retrieve information from deployed applications.

For small teams, the practical change is less about generating another landing page and more about reducing the number of handoffs between planning, coding and deployment.

From Analysis to a Working Application

In Work mode, a user can ask ChatGPT to convert an analysis or project plan into a Lovable app. A founder might, for example, work through customer research, requirements and an initial data model in ChatGPT, then invoke Lovable to turn that material into software.

This creates a more continuous path from unstructured business thinking to an interactive product. Instead of manually copying a specification into Lovable, the connected workspace allows ChatGPT to pass the relevant context into the app-building process. Lovable has not detailed how much context is transferred automatically, so builders should still review generated requirements and application behavior before deployment.

Codex supports a different stage of the workflow. According to Lovable, someone prototyping inside the coding agent can ask Lovable to add authentication, role-based access and a real database, then deploy the resulting application. The completed app is returned inside the coding workflow, avoiding a separate trip through Lovable’s interface.

Those are consequential additions. Authentication and permissions affect who can see or change data, while replacing placeholder storage with a persistent database changes a prototype into something closer to an operational application. Builders should test access rules and data handling rather than treating generated infrastructure as production-ready by default.

The Workspace Becomes Available to the Agent

The connection also works in the other direction. ChatGPT can inspect projects inside a connected Lovable workspace and pull live data from Lovable apps. That could help a business owner check application state, investigate a project or analyze operational information through natural-language requests.

The announcement does not specify which project elements ChatGPT can inspect, how granular access controls are, or whether administrators can restrict the connection to selected apps. Those details will matter for teams storing customer or commercially sensitive information. Users should review the permissions presented during connection and avoid exposing more of a workspace than a task requires.

The release fits Lovable’s wider effort to make its apps and workspaces accessible from external tools. The company recently described how it went from no formal integrations to almost 100 connectors in six months in an official blog post. It has also brought app creation into Slack, as Create With covered in Lovable in Slack Brings Lovable App Building Into Team Threads.

The strategic direction is clear: Lovable does not want its editor to be the only place where app-building starts. By making the workspace available to general-purpose and coding agents, it can sit behind tools where planning and development already happen. The remaining questions concern permissions, plan availability and how reliably context moves between the services.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Lovable integration with ChatGPT?

It is a workspace connection that lets ChatGPT interact with Lovable projects. Users can create Lovable apps from Work mode, add application features through Codex, inspect projects and request live data from existing apps.

What can Codex ask Lovable to add to an application?

Lovable specifically lists authentication, role-based access and a real database. Codex users can also ask Lovable to deploy the resulting application and receive the working app without leaving the coding agent.

When is the integration available, and does it require a paid plan?

Lovable announced the integration on August 31, 2026 and provided a link for users to get started. The supplied announcement does not state a phased release schedule, pricing or which Lovable and ChatGPT plans are required.
