Supabase Grafana Cloud integration Adds One-Click Observability for Every Project

Supabase is removing much of the setup work required to monitor its hosted Postgres projects. The company has added a one-click Grafana Cloud integration to the Supabase Dashboard, giving teams a configured monitoring environment with authentication, metric collection, and a ready-made dashboard covering more than 200 metrics.

The integration is available across every Supabase plan, including the free tier. Supabase announced the release on LinkedIn on July 23, alongside an official blog post focused on bringing observability to every project.

For small teams, the consequential part is not simply access to Grafana. Developers could already build their own monitoring pipelines, but doing so meant configuring authentication, setting up metric scraping, and assembling dashboards. Those tasks compete with product work and can be particularly burdensome for businesses without a dedicated infrastructure engineer.

What the integration configures

A project can now be connected from within the Supabase Dashboard. Supabase says the resulting Grafana Cloud instance arrives fully configured, rather than presenting users with a blank monitoring workspace.

The automated setup covers three core components:

  • Authentication, establishing the connection needed to access project metrics
  • Metric scraping, so project measurements are collected without a manually assembled pipeline
  • A pre-built dashboard, providing visual coverage of more than 200 metrics from the start

That last component should shorten the distance between enabling monitoring and finding useful information. Creating a Grafana dashboard manually normally requires teams to identify relevant metrics, construct queries, choose visualizations, and organize panels. A pre-built dashboard gives builders a common starting point while leaving Grafana available for deeper analysis and customization.

Supabase has not detailed the complete metric list in the announcement. It has also described this release specifically in terms of metric scraping, so teams seeking broader logging or tracing workflows should not assume those signals are included in the same setup.

Why it matters for lean product teams

Observability often arrives late in a product’s development. A founder may begin investigating monitoring only after customers report slow requests, intermittent failures, or unexplained capacity problems. By putting the connection inside the main project dashboard and supplying a usable Grafana configuration, Supabase is making monitoring easier to add before an incident forces the issue.

The free-tier availability is also notable. It lets prototypes and early-stage products establish a monitoring baseline without first upgrading their Supabase subscription. That can help teams learn how a project behaves under real traffic and retain a familiar dashboard as the application grows.

There are still practical details to check. Supabase says the integration itself is available on every Supabase plan, but its announcement does not specify Grafana Cloud account limits, retention policies, or costs that could apply as usage expands. Builders should review the applicable Grafana Cloud terms before treating the integration as a permanently cost-free monitoring stack.

The release fits Supabase’s broader effort to turn infrastructure capabilities into dashboard-level workflows. Rather than requiring every developer to assemble an observability stack from individual components, the platform is providing an opinionated default that can be activated at the project level. For NoCode and AI-assisted product teams, that reduces operational friction without hiding the underlying metrics inside a proprietary monitoring interface.

Frequently asked questions

What is Supabase Grafana Cloud integration?

Supabase Grafana Cloud integration is a one-click connection available in the Supabase Dashboard. It configures authentication, metric scraping, and a Grafana dashboard covering more than 200 project metrics.

Which Supabase plans include the integration?

Supabase says the integration is available on every plan, including its free tier. The announcement does not provide details about separate Grafana Cloud usage limits or potential costs.

Does the integration require users to build a Grafana dashboard manually?

No. Connecting a project provides a pre-built dashboard, so users do not have to begin with an empty Grafana instance. Teams can use that dashboard as the initial view of their project metrics.
