Supabase .NET SDK v8.0.0 Unifies Every Package

Supabase .NET SDK v8.0.0 brings every .NET package into one repository and gives them a single version number. It also adds an extension package for dependency injection, moves serialization to System.Text.Json and introduces configurable retry with backoff.

The packages previously lived in separate repositories and followed different release cycles. Gotrue was on v6.x.x, Realtime was on v7.x.x and the main package was on v1.x.x. According to the launch post, Gotrue, PostgREST, Realtime, Storage, Functions and the umbrella Supabase package will now ship together.

Before v8.0.0From v8.0.0
Packages had separate repositoriesPackages share one repository
Packages followed different version numbersAll packages use the same version number
Client used Newtonsoft.JsonClient uses System.Text.Json
Previous repositories accepted changesPrevious repositories are archived and read-only

The jump to v8.0.0 aligns every package with Realtime, which had already reached v7.x.x. The unified codebase is now held in the supabase-community/supabase-csharp repository.

Supabase .NET SDK v8.0.0 Adds Dependency Injection

A new Supabase.Extensions.DependencyInjection package registers the client with the .NET service container. It also lets IHttpClientFactory manage the client’s HttpClient, making it the supported registration route for ASP.NET Core apps.

Every service client can accept an injected HttpClient. Optional retry with backoff can be configured across the service packages. The client now accepts publishable and secret API keys too.

The separate getting started guide covers installation, model definitions and client configuration for ASP.NET Core, console apps, desktop apps, Unity and mobile. Developers can install the Supabase meta-package to receive Auth, Postgrest, Storage, Realtime and Functions, or reference an individual service package.

Migrating Existing C# Apps

The switch from Newtonsoft.Json means custom converters and [JsonProperty] attributes must move to their System.Text.Json equivalents. Supabase has published a migration guide covering the breaking changes from earlier versions.

Frequently asked questions

What is Supabase .NET SDK v8.0.0?

It is the v8 release of the C# client for Supabase projects. It provides access to Auth, Database, Storage, Realtime and Edge Functions through one API, with all service packages now sharing a repository and version number.

How does Supabase .NET SDK v8.0.0 compare with v7?

Version 8 replaces Newtonsoft.Json with System.Text.Json, adds injectable HttpClient support and offers optional retry with backoff. It also introduces the Supabase.Extensions.DependencyInjection package for ASP.NET Core and moves every package to lockstep versioning.

Which .NET versions support Supabase .NET SDK v8.0.0?

The packages target .NET Standard 2.1. That requires .NET Core 3.0+ or .NET 5+ and excludes .NET Framework, which supports up to .NET Standard 2.0.
