Supabase is among the first services available in Stripe Projects, a new developer workflow built into the Stripe CLI that lets developers provision production-ready infrastructure directly from the terminal.
Stripe Projects is currently in developer preview. The concept is straightforward: instead of jumping between dashboards to set up the services a new app needs, a developer runs a single CLI command and gets real credentials for real services -- no mocking, no placeholders -- delivered directly to their environment. Supabase announced its participation and noted it was a co-design partner on the integration specification.
What Gets Provisioned
When a developer selects Supabase from the Stripe Projects catalog, a single command provisions a full project: Postgres database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, and Realtime. Credentials land in the local environment automatically. The Supabase account and dashboard remain the developer's own -- Stripe Projects is purely a provisioning workflow, not a managed service abstraction.
That distinction matters. The provisioned project is a normal Supabase project in every respect, accessible via the Supabase dashboard and manageable the same way any other project would be. There's no vendor lock-in through the integration.
Terminal-First Development
The deeper significance here is what this represents for how developers bootstrap new projects. Stripe Projects is a bet that the terminal is the right place to provision the full stack -- payment processing, database, auth, and everything else -- without context-switching between browser tabs and dashboards.
For solo builders and small teams shipping quickly, that kind of integrated provisioning removes real friction. The combination of Stripe's payment infrastructure and Supabase's backend services covers a large share of what most SaaS products need at the start, and getting both configured from one command is a genuine time-saver.
Supabase served as a co-design partner on the integration, which means the Supabase integration was built with input from both teams rather than retrofitted to Stripe's spec after the fact. The result is that Supabase is available in the Stripe Projects catalog from day one of the developer preview, not as a later addition.
Developers can try the integration now via the Stripe CLI.
