Granola Launches Recipes Feature for Context-Aware AI Prompts in Meeting Notes

Granola has launched Recipes, a new feature that brings expertly crafted AI prompts directly into the meeting notes platform. Announced on LinkedIn, the feature lives inside a redesigned Granola Chat and leverages the unique context of users' meeting histories to deliver prompts that generic AI tools cannot replicate.

Unlike standalone AI assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude, Recipes taps into the specific people users have met and the conversations they have documented in Granola. This contextual awareness allows the prompts to generate outputs based on actual work history, meeting contributions, and ongoing discussions rather than generic inputs.

Expert-Designed Prompts at Launch

Granola is launching Recipes with a curated set of prompts created by industry experts. The initial collection includes:

  • CEO Coaching from Matt Mochary, a Silicon Valley executive coach known for working with startup founders. The Recipe analyzes users' meeting contributions and provides coaching in Mochary's style.
  • Product Requirements Documents based on principles from Lenny Rachitsky, a product management thought leader whose frameworks are widely used in tech.
  • Feedback Gathering modeled after design leader Michael Riddering's approach to collecting and synthesizing user input.

The company positions Recipes as combining what it calls the best models, the best context, and the best prompts. By packaging expert knowledge into reusable templates that work with meeting data, Granola aims to deliver utility that goes beyond general-purpose AI chat interfaces.

Users can also create custom Recipes for recurring tasks like weekly planning, to-do list generation, or follow-up email drafting. The feature follows Granola's recent addition of @ mentions to its chat interface, which allows users to reference specific notes and attendees when querying the AI.

The Context Advantage

Granola's strategy hinges on context. The platform records and transcribes meetings, then uses AI to generate notes that users can edit. Over time, this builds a repository of work conversations tied to specific people, projects, and decisions.

Recipes pulls from this repository. When a user applies a coaching Recipe, for example, the AI can reference actual statements the user made in recent meetings, feedback they received from colleagues, or patterns in how they communicate across different contexts. This level of specificity is difficult to achieve in tools like Notion AI or Perplexity, which lack direct access to structured meeting data.

The redesigned Granola Chat interface also supports chat history preservation, allowing users to return to previous Recipe outputs and build on them over time. The company has also integrated Gemini 3 support into the feature, giving users access to multiple AI models depending on their needs.

Granola competes in a crowded meeting notes space that includes Otter.ai, Fireflies, and native tools from video platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams. The addition of Recipes represents a bet that vertical-specific prompts and deep contextual integration will differentiate the product more than transcription accuracy or note formatting alone.

The feature is available now to Granola users. The company has not disclosed pricing changes or whether Recipes will be limited to specific subscription tiers.
