Granola for Apple Watch Takes AI Meeting Notes Beyond the Laptop

Granola is moving meeting notes off the laptop and onto the wrist. The company has launched Granola for Apple Watch, a dedicated app designed for walking one-to-ones, whiteboard sessions, coffee meetings and other conversations where opening a computer would be awkward or distracting.

The watch app lets users start taking notes with a tap, then sends the resulting notes to Granola on their other devices. It is a focused extension of the company’s AI notepad rather than an attempt to reproduce its full desktop interface on a small screen.

One-tap capture for meetings on the move

According to Granola’s official announcement, tapping the watch starts a new note. The display turns Granola green and the device plays a sound to confirm that it is working. When the conversation finishes, another tap ends the session; the notes then become available on the user’s phone and computer within moments.

The app includes two shortcuts intended to make that process easier:

  • Scheduled meeting reminders: A subtle tap prompts the wearer to start Granola before a calendar meeting.
  • A watch-face complication: Users can place Granola on their watch face, making it possible to begin an unscheduled note with one tap.

That second option could be particularly useful for founders, consultants and small teams whose most consequential conversations are not always scheduled. Advice exchanged over coffee, an impromptu product discussion or a customer conversation at an event can now enter the same notes system as a formal video call.

Granola says it built the experience from the ground up for Apple Watch. The stripped-back interaction reflects the limits and advantages of a wearable: there is little room for editing, but the watch is already present and can begin a note without putting a screen between participants.

Notes still flow into the wider workflow

Notes started on Apple Watch automatically sync with Granola on iPhone, Mac and Windows. From there, users can review or edit the notes and continue working with them using the larger-screen applications.

The notes can also become context for connected AI tools through Granola MCP. That matters because capture is only the first step in many meeting workflows. A conversation might later inform a project brief, follow-up message or product task, without requiring someone to reconstruct it from memory.

The watch release continues Granola’s push beyond desktop meetings. It follows the company’s launch of an Android app, which similarly extended access to people working away from a computer. Granola has also been building tools for what happens after a meeting, including automated post-meeting follow-ups.

For small businesses, the practical appeal is less about having another wearable app and more about reducing gaps in meeting coverage. Laptop-based notetaking works well for video calls and formal conference-room sessions, but it is poorly suited to site visits, walking meetings and informal conversations. The Apple Watch app gives existing users a lighter capture option while keeping notes inside the same workspace.

Granola for Apple Watch was made available for free on July 28, 2026. Users need to download or update Granola for iPhone, sign in and follow the Watch setup instructions shown in the mobile app. Granola has not specified additional plan requirements in its announcement.

The company also marked the release with a limited-edition Apple Watch strap made by London-based weaver Nowshin Prenon. Only a small number were produced, making the strap a launch accessory rather than a core part of the product.
