Granola has added a new iPhone capture feature that lets users photograph whiteboards, diagrams, and hand-drawn sketches and save them directly into meeting notes. The update removes friction from documenting visual work, allowing teams to turn physical brainstorming sessions into digital records without switching apps or manually uploading files.
The feature works through the Granola iOS app. Users can now point their iPhone camera at a whiteboard or napkin sketch during or after a meeting and add it to an existing note in one step. The company announced the update on LinkedIn with a brief message highlighting the new workflow: "Whiteboards. Diagrams. A napkin sketch. Now you can capture them straight into a Granola note, right from your iPhone."
Mobile-First Documentation for Visual Work
The update addresses a common workflow gap. Many meetings produce visual output on whiteboards or paper that later needs to be transcribed, photographed separately, or lost entirely. Granola's camera integration means teams can capture those artifacts in the same place they store transcripts and text notes, making it easier to reference diagrams alongside spoken context.
The feature fits into Granola's broader push to consolidate meeting context. The company recently raised $125M in Series C funding and launched Team Spaces for shared notes, aiming to make meeting information searchable and actionable across organizations. Adding visual capture extends that model to in-person and hybrid sessions where ideas emerge on physical surfaces.
For teams already using Granola to record and summarize meetings, the iPhone feature means less post-meeting cleanup. Instead of emailing photos or uploading files to multiple systems, users can add images to notes as they happen. The integration is available now in the iOS app, though the company has not specified whether Android support is planned.
Context and Competition
Granola has been expanding its integrations beyond meeting recording. The tool recently launched an API and a Model Context Protocol connector that links notes to AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor. These integrations let users pull meeting context into code editors, chatbots, and project management tools without manual copy-paste.
The new camera feature operates in a similar vein, reducing the steps between idea and documentation. It also positions Granola as more than a transcription service, turning the app into a central repository for both spoken and visual meeting artifacts. Other tools in the AI meeting assistant space, such as Otter.ai and Fireflies, have focused on audio and transcription, making Granola's visual capture a notable differentiator.
The update is live now for iPhone users. Teams looking to streamline documentation for hybrid or in-person meetings can download the Granola iOS app and start capturing visual content alongside transcripts.
