ChatGPT’s expanded ServiceNow integration will connect the chat interface and Codex with enterprise workflows across application development, IT and cybersecurity.

IT teams will be able to find related incidents, assess change risk and update ServiceNow records directly inside ChatGPT. Existing ServiceNow business rules and permissions will continue to apply when those actions are carried out.

OpenAI outlined the expansion in a LinkedIn post. The partnership brings OpenAI models and agents into ServiceNow workflows, with ChatGPT and Codex acting as ways to access them.

ChatGPT’s ServiceNow Integration Handles IT Actions

The integration gives IT teams a conversational route into three specific ServiceNow tasks. Staff can work from ChatGPT while the connected ServiceNow environment applies the organisation’s established controls.

IT taskAction available in ChatGPT
Incident managementFind related incidents
Change managementAssess change risk
Record managementUpdate ServiceNow records

The record update is part of the workflow, not just a generated answer for someone to copy across manually. Actions remain subject to the business rules and permissions already configured in ServiceNow.

The expansion also covers application development and cybersecurity workflows. Codex is included alongside ChatGPT, connecting OpenAI’s coding agent with ServiceNow’s enterprise systems. The announcement does not break down which individual development or cybersecurity actions will be available.

ServiceNow Plans Wider ChatGPT Work Access

ServiceNow also plans to give all of its employees access to ChatGPT Work and Codex. That extends the internal rollout beyond engineering teams, although the update does not name the other departments involved.

The partnership follows a wider push to connect ChatGPT with workplace software. It sits alongside ChatGPT’s addition of Dots for always-on work across 4,000 apps, with this update focused specifically on ServiceNow workflows and controls.

How to Get Your Product Recommended by Google and ChatGPT

Tanya Van Gastel presents the APEX framework for making products discoverable in AI-powered search engines like ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews. She explains how AI is fundamentally changing product discovery and buyer behavior, then breaks down five critical components: Authority (being cited as a solution), Presence (visibility across search platforms), Expertise (creating high-quality money pages), Endorsements (off-site validation), and Extractability (making content easy for AI to process). The talk emphasizes quality over quantity, with data showing 50% of SaaS SEO revenue comes from fewer than 10 high-performing pages.
