ChatGPT Ads Reach People While They Compare Options

The ad product is designed to reach people while they explore products, compare alternatives and decide what to buy. Advertisers can use the context of a conversation to place relevant ads rather than relying only on search keywords.

OpenAI’s advertising principles remain unchanged. Conversations stay private from advertisers. Ads are clearly labelled and kept separate from answers, and advertising does not influence the answers ChatGPT provides.

The expansion covers local businesses as well as global brands. Advertisers can create campaigns directly through Ads Manager or work through technology partners.

Building a Campaign in Ads Manager

Ads Manager provides the tools to create an account, set up campaigns and access step-by-step Help Centre resources. Campaign creation includes choosing a budget and goal, then adding ad details directly or through a bulk upload.

  1. 1

    Create the campaign

choose the campaign goal and budget

  2. 2

    Add the ad details

create them in Ads Manager or upload them in bulk

  3. 3

    Launch and learn

measure results, edit the campaign and optimise performance

New advertisers can claim $500 in ad credit after spending $500. Once a campaign is running, Ads Manager can be used to measure results and make changes.

She explains how AI is fundamentally changing product discovery and buyer behavior, then breaks down five critical components: Authority (being cited as a solution), Presence (visibility across search platforms), Expertise (creating high-quality money pages), Endorsements (off-site validation), and Extractability (making content easy for AI to process). The talk emphasizes quality over quantity, with data showing 50% of SaaS SEO revenue comes from fewer than 10 high-performing pages.
