ChatGPT for Teens now applies automatically to accounts identified as belonging to people under 18, with protections switched on by default. New study tools and a College Planner are also on the way.

The LinkedIn post also shares early usage figures for two existing learning features. In one week, teens used Learning Visualizations to explore maths and science concepts, while Study Mode provided step-by-step learning support.

Learning Visualizations
Nearly 1.2 million teens
used in one week
Study Mode
More than 180,000 teens
used in one week

The experience will continue to be evaluated using feedback from teenagers, families and educators.

College Planner Brings Applications Into One Plan

College Planner is coming soon. It will combine application requirements, deadlines, tasks and financial aid steps in one place.

The initial US experience is designed for high-school students in grades 10 to 12 who are planning to apply to a four-year college. This gives each student a single plan covering both the application itself and the work around it.

More study features are also planned. On iOS, students will be able to scan notes and combine them into one PDF. They will also be able to create flashcards for revision and turn uploaded notes into interactive quizzes.

Support for Advisers and Digital Wellbeing Research

The update also includes support for two education initiatives. College Advising Corps will receive help to expand into new US states and establish an AI fellowship for advisers.

Boston Children’s Hospital’s Digital Wellness Lab will receive three years of support. Its independent Student Advisory Council will involve young people in testing tools and recommending changes.

Together, these initiatives add human advisers, researchers and students to the work around ChatGPT for Teens, alongside the product changes inside ChatGPT itself.

How to Get Your Product Recommended by Google and ChatGPT

Tanya Van Gastel presents the APEX framework for making products discoverable in AI-powered search engines like ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews. She explains how AI is fundamentally changing product discovery and buyer behavior, then breaks down five critical components: Authority (being cited as a solution), Presence (visibility across search platforms), Expertise (creating high-quality money pages), Endorsements (off-site validation), and Extractability (making content easy for AI to process). The talk emphasizes quality over quantity, with data showing 50% of SaaS SEO revenue comes from fewer than 10 high-performing pages.
