n8n Adds Kapa AI Node for One-Step Agent Retrieval

The Kapa AI node gives agents in n8n retrieval across all their sources through one canvas node. It removes the need to set up document chunking, embeddings or a vector store for that retrieval layer.

According to n8n’s LinkedIn announcement, Kapa also maintains the source index automatically. n8n reports that it produces better answers using half the tokens.

What the Kapa AI node handles

The node brings the main retrieval jobs into one part of the workflow:

JobWhat changes with Kapa
Agent retrievalOne node provides retrieval across sources
Retrieval setupNo chunking, embeddings or vector store to configure
Index maintenanceKapa keeps the index in sync automatically
Token usen8n reports better answers using half the tokens

Chunking, embeddings and vector storage are normally separate parts of a retrieval setup. With this node, builders do not need to configure those components individually before an agent can retrieve information from its sources.

The automatic index sync also moves ongoing source maintenance into Kapa. When the indexed sources change, Kapa is responsible for keeping its index current rather than requiring a separate indexing process in the n8n workflow.

A Different Piece of the Agent Workflow

The Kapa AI node focuses on the knowledge retrieval stage. It gives an agent access to indexed source material without requiring the builder to assemble the supporting retrieval infrastructure on the canvas.

That makes it distinct from the n8n Assistant, which builds editable workflows from plain English. The Assistant helps create the workflow, while the Kapa AI node supplies retrieval to agents running inside it.

Frequently asked questions

What is n8n’s Kapa AI node?

It is a workflow node that gives AI agents retrieval across connected sources. Kapa handles the index and keeps it in sync automatically.

How does the Kapa AI node change retrieval setup?

Builders do not need to configure chunking, embeddings or a vector store for the node. Retrieval across sources is provided through one node on the canvas.

Which n8n plan includes the Kapa AI node?

The announcement does not give pricing or plan availability. It confirms that Kapa AI has joined the n8n canvas.

The AI-Native Solopreneur: Build Without a Technical Co-Founder

Effie Bersoux presents a paradigm shift in entrepreneurship where AI enables solo founders to build, validate, and scale businesses without technical co-founders or significant capital. Drawing from Growth Girls' experience building 40+ companies in one year and going from a £4m exit (7 years) to a £40m acquisition target (1 year), she demonstrates how AI breaks the traditional capital-talent-traction loop that disadvantages undercapitalized founders. The talk provides concrete frameworks for AI-native operating models, automation decision-making, and rapid idea-to-market validation.
