Zapier has launched a native integration with BrightHire, the interview intelligence platform, enabling recruiting teams to automate interview preparation workflows without engineering resources or custom code.
The integration follows Zapier's own internal use case: the company's talent acquisition team built an automated interview-prep agent that pulls prior interview transcripts, identifies gaps in coverage, and delivers tailored prep packets to Slack 24 hours before final-stage executive interviews. According to Tracy Spelic, head of people operations at Zapier, the system connects Ashby, BrightHire, Google Docs, and Slack without requiring an engineer or IT ticket.
Built by the People Closest to the Problem
Zapier's TA team developed the agent to address a specific pain point: manual interview prep was consuming real hours before high-stakes executive interviews. Hiring managers and recruiters were pulling transcripts, scanning for gaps in questioning, and writing context documents by hand.
The automated system now handles that work end-to-end. It surfaces every prior interview transcript, flags areas where candidates haven't been thoroughly evaluated, and generates a prep packet delivered directly to the executive and their executive assistant. The result, Spelic noted, is that interviewers come in fully prepped and more confident in their ability to make high-quality hiring decisions.
The project aligns with Zapier's broader focus on enabling business teams to build their own automation, as we previously covered with the company's open-source GTM agent skills.
What the Integration Enables
With BrightHire now connected to Zapier's platform, any recruiting team can replicate or adapt this workflow. The integration supports common recruiting stack scenarios:
- Automatically route interview transcripts and insights to applicant tracking systems
- Trigger prep documents in Notion or Google Docs based on interview stages
- Send candidate summaries to hiring managers via Slack or email
- Build custom feedback loops between interview intelligence and CRM or onboarding tools
Because Zapier connects to thousands of apps, teams can wire BrightHire into their existing tools without relying on pre-built integrations or custom API work. This opens the door for recruiting operations teams to design workflows that match their specific hiring process, not a vendor's default setup.
Why This Matters
The BrightHire integration reflects a trend in HR tech: operations teams building their own solutions to process problems rather than waiting for vendors to ship features. Zapier has been pushing this model with its agent capabilities and MCP integration, which lets AI assistants like Claude perform actions across thousands of apps without custom integrations.
For recruiting teams, interview intelligence platforms like BrightHire generate valuable structured data, but that data often sits isolated from the rest of the hiring workflow. This integration solves the connectivity problem, letting teams build the glue logic themselves.
The announcement also highlights a shift in who builds automation at companies. Spelic specifically called out the TA team members who built the interview-prep agent, not an engineering or IT team. That aligns with Zapier's positioning around no-code automation for business operators, and it's a concrete example of non-technical teams shipping real solutions to workflow problems.
The BrightHire integration is live on Zapier now, and teams can start building workflows immediately. No word yet on whether Zapier will open-source the interview-prep agent template itself, but the underlying primitives are now available for any recruiting team to assemble.
