Notion is hosting a Developer Platform Hackathon in collaboration with Anthropic, OpenAI, and Vercel, the company announced this week. The event arrives as Notion rolls out faster ways to personalize its AI agents using Custom Instructions and Skills.
The hackathon invites developers to build on Notion's platform using AI models from the three partner companies. While Notion did not disclose specific dates or registration details in its announcement, the collaboration signals a push to expand the ecosystem of tools and integrations built on top of its workspace platform. Developers interested in participating can find details through the company's official channels.
Personalizing Notion Agents in Minutes
Alongside the hackathon news, Notion highlighted a streamlined workflow for customizing its AI agents. Users can now tailor agent behavior using Custom Instructions and Skills in what the company says takes less than five minutes. These features allow teams to define how agents respond to queries, prioritize tasks, or handle specific workflows within a workspace.
The update builds on Notion's recent Custom Agents beta, which the company detailed earlier this month. Custom Agents can automate multi-step tasks by pulling context from Notion pages, connected apps, and web data. With the new personalization tools, teams can shape agent outputs to match their terminology, processes, or decision-making frameworks.

Custom Instructions let users write natural language prompts that guide how an agent handles requests. A sales team might instruct an agent to always check lead status before drafting outreach emails, or a support team could set rules for escalating tickets based on keyword triggers. Skills, meanwhile, extend what agents can do by connecting them to external APIs, databases, or internal tools.
Notion has been steadily expanding agent capabilities since launching the feature in beta. The company added usage controls and analytics for workspace admins earlier this year and introduced email management features that let agents draft replies and search inboxes. According to Ramp's head of AI and operations Ben Levick, the company uses Notion Agents for any repetitive task across its workflows.
Developer Event Timing
The hackathon announcement comes as Notion deepens integrations with major AI platforms. The workspace tool recently connected to xAI's Grok via Model Context Protocol, allowing users to query Notion data through Grok's chat interface. By bringing Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's models, and Vercel's deployment tools into a single event, Notion is positioning its platform as a layer where developers can build AI-powered workflows that integrate with real-world workspaces.
The developer focus also aligns with Notion's push to make agents more accessible to non-technical users. The company launched an AI maturity assessment tool in March to help organizations gauge readiness for AI adoption, suggesting it sees broader team adoption, not just power users, as key to growth.
Notion has not yet provided a public registration link or event format for the hackathon. Developers can check the company's blog and social channels for updates.
