Lovable Becomes First Vibe Coding Tool With Built-In Penetration Testing

Pentesting for $100, Not $50,000

Lovable has launched built-in penetration testing for apps built on its platform, becoming the first vibe coding tool to offer enterprise-grade security testing at a fraction of traditional costs. The feature, announced on LinkedIn, runs comprehensive security audits for $100 per test, compared to the $5,000 to $50,000 companies typically pay external security firms.

The penetration testing service is powered by Aikido Security and delivers results in hours rather than weeks. Tests support compliance frameworks including SOC 2 and ISO 27001, client security questionnaires, and investor due diligence requirements.

Why This Matters for AI-Built Apps

As more businesses build production software using AI development tools, security verification has become a bottleneck. Traditional penetration testing involves scheduling external security consultants, waiting weeks for availability, and paying thousands of dollars per engagement. For early-stage companies and solo builders using platforms like Lovable, these costs and timelines have been prohibitive.

Lovable's integration addresses this gap directly. Any app built on the platform can request a pentest through the dashboard. Aikido's security team conducts the assessment, testing for common vulnerabilities including SQL injection, cross-site scripting, authentication bypasses, and API security flaws. The platform already includes automated security scanning and secure hosting infrastructure; the new pentesting feature adds manual expert review on top of those baseline protections.

The timing aligns with broader industry pressure on AI coding tools to demonstrate security rigor. Lovable has previously rolled out features including workspace-wide secret management and published security guidance for founders building on the platform.

Pricing and Availability

Penetration tests are available to all Lovable users on Free, Pro, and Business plans for $100 per test. The pricing structure makes security testing accessible to individual builders and startups that previously couldn't justify the expense. Tests can be requested directly from a project dashboard and typically complete within a few hours, delivering a detailed report of findings and remediation recommendations.

The partnership with Aikido Security provides Lovable users access to a dedicated security team without requiring separate vendor contracts or procurement processes. For companies undergoing investor due diligence or enterprise sales cycles, the pentest reports serve as third-party validation of security practices.

Context for Builders

Lovable, formerly known as GPT Engineer, positions itself in the emerging vibe coding category, where users describe what they want to build in natural language and AI generates the code. The platform has shipped features including in-app commenting for team collaboration, Telegram integration, and an Academy with learning templates.

The security emphasis distinguishes Lovable from competitors like Bolt, v0, and Replit. While those platforms focus primarily on development speed, Lovable is layering in security infrastructure that addresses enterprise adoption requirements. The company has published technical details on its approach to building safe, scalable businesses on the platform.

For builders evaluating whether AI-generated code is production-ready, the ability to verify security through independent pentesting provides a measurable validation step. The $100 price point removes the traditional barrier to security testing, making it practical to run tests during development rather than treating security as a launch prerequisite.

AI Lets You Build Everything—Here’s Why You Still Never Launch

Tom Wesolowski, owner of NoCodeRefactoring.com, delivers a conference talk exposing how AI's ability to build anything has created a new problem: chronic overbuilding that prevents launches. Using a real marketplace project as a case study, he demonstrates how an 80% scope reduction transformed a stalled four-month development into a revenue-generating product launched in two weeks. The talk provides a practical framework for identifying the minimal viable customer loop and postponing everything else until real user demand validates the need.
