Voice Typing gives Granola users free, unlimited dictation on Mac. Speak naturally and your words appear inside the app you are currently using.
According to Granola’s LinkedIn launch post, the feature works across tasks ranging from a quick email reply to a detailed prompt for Claude.
Voice typing is not limited to Granola’s meeting notes. It enters text directly into the active app, turning Granola’s existing knowledge of meetings into a broader writing tool.
Voice Typing Uses Your Meeting Vocabulary
Granola already knows colleagues’ names and the terminology used in recorded meetings. Voice Typing draws on that context when converting speech into text, so it can work with workplace names and jargon out of the box.
This gives the feature a different starting point from generic dictation. Its vocabulary comes from the people and subjects already present in a user’s Granola meetings, rather than treating every spoken phrase without that meeting context.
The output can be used for short and long-form text. Granola’s examples cover email replies and detailed AI prompts, with no word limit attached to the feature.
Mac Gets Voice Typing First
Voice Typing is available now on Mac. Versions for Windows, iOS and Android are coming soon.
The platform order applies specifically to Voice Typing. Granola already offers its meeting notepad on other devices, including the Android app covered in Granola Brings Granola for Android to Mixed-Device Teams. Android users will need to wait for the separate Voice Typing release before they can dictate into other apps with this feature.
