Vercel Shop is a production-ready Shopify storefront built on Next.js for human shoppers and AI agents. It combines a conventional online shop with agent-readable product pages, Shopify checkout and an optional AI shopping assistant.

Vercel Shop Serves People and Agents Differently
For human visitors, the storefront offers product discovery, a cart and personalised recommendations. Cache Components serve product data immediately while personalised content streams into the page.
AI agents can request Markdown through the HTTP Accept header. This gives them a structured version of the shop’s content so they can find products, understand product information and continue towards checkout through Shopify.

The opt-in shopping assistant is built with Eve and AI Gateway. In Vercel’s example, a shopper can ask for trainers matching a colour and budget, then receive matching products with names and prices.
Shopify Still Runs the Commerce Backend
The storefront uses Shopify for its product catalogue, checkout and payments. It supports Shopify Checkout, Shop Pay and Shopify Payments, while the Storefront API provides catalogue, cart and order data.
Shopify Markets adds multi-currency and multi-language support. Analytics and consent management are also included in the commerce setup.
Vercel Shop also includes shop skills. These give coding agents repeatable ways to add features including Shopify Markets, translations, menus and analytics.
The project is fully customisable and available as an open-source example, rather than a separate hosted commerce backend. Shopify continues to handle the transaction while Next.js controls the storefront experience.
