Notion Adds Four New Art Libraries for Page Covers

Notion has expanded its page cover art options with imagery from four new libraries, giving users more ways to personalize their workspace.

The update adds covers from Texturelabs, The Met's Hudson River School collection, the National Museum of Asian Art, and USDA Pomological Watercolors. The company announced the update on LinkedIn, noting users can now access these collections when selecting cover images for their pages.

What's Included

Each library brings a distinct visual style. The Hudson River School collection from The Metropolitan Museum of Art features 19th-century American landscape paintings. The National Museum of Asian Art contributes works spanning centuries of Asian artistic traditions. USDA Pomological Watercolors offers detailed botanical illustrations of fruits originally created for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's plant breeding programs. Texturelabs provides contemporary abstract and textural designs.

The additions build on Notion's existing cover art catalog, which already included NASA imagery, gradients, and solid colors. Cover images appear at the top of pages and serve as visual anchors in Notion's card views and databases.

Page customization has been a longstanding feature in Notion, allowing teams to differentiate wikis, project hubs, and documentation. The new art libraries give users more options beyond generic stock photos or branded imagery, particularly useful for teams building internal resources or client-facing sites.

Why It Matters

The update is minor in scope but signals Notion's attention to details that affect daily use. While the company has been focused on larger initiatives like custom agents and AI features, as previously covered, smaller aesthetic updates like this improve the experience of teams who spend hours in the platform each day.

Page covers may seem decorative, but they play a functional role in visual hierarchy. In a workspace where dozens of pages compete for attention, a recognizable cover image helps users navigate faster. Teams building knowledge bases, onboarding docs, or client portals often rely on visual differentiation to make content more approachable.

The update is live now for all users. To access the new covers, open any page, click "Add cover," and browse the updated galleries. The art is available alongside Notion's existing cover options, including uploads and unsplash integration.
