Lovable Launches General Tasks to Move Beyond App Development

Lovable Expands Its Scope

Lovable has announced on LinkedIn the launch of General Tasks, a significant expansion beyond its original focus on app building. The platform now supports data analysis, PDF report generation, marketing asset creation, interactive pitch decks, and animated launch videos, all within the same interface.

The move positions Lovable as what founder Felix Haas describes as "the entire startup stack in one interface." Users can now handle product development, pitch deck design, and launch video production without switching tools.

What General Tasks Enables

The new capabilities address workflows that typically require multiple specialized tools:

Data and documents: Users can analyze datasets and generate PDF reports directly in Lovable. This builds on the platform's recent addition of file creation and video generation features.

Marketing and sales materials: The platform now handles marketing asset creation, letting teams produce branded materials alongside their product work. This complements tools like Canva and Figma, but integrates the workflow into a development environment.

Pitch and presentation tools: Interactive pitch decks can be built using the same chat interface that powers app development. Combined with animated launch video capabilities, this covers the full fundraising and product launch toolkit.

The platform's blog post details how users can turn spreadsheets into working apps, edit files, and generate business documents without leaving the interface. This represents a notable shift from vibe coding tools like Bolt and v0, which remain focused on code generation.

Technical Integration

Lovable continues to use a chat-based interface for all tasks. The same natural language prompts that generate React components now analyze CSV files or produce slide decks. The platform maintains its integration with Supabase for backend services and supports deployment to Vercel and Netlify.

Recent changelog entries show the team has added connectors for Twitch, Twilio, Linear, Telegram, and Contentful, expanding the range of services apps can integrate with. The platform also supports Model Context Protocol (MCP) for extended functionality.

Market Positioning

By bundling product development, content creation, and business document generation, Lovable differentiates itself from pure app builders like Bubble and Glide, which focus on no-code database apps. It also contrasts with AI coding assistants like Cursor and Windsurf, which augment traditional development workflows rather than replacing entire tool stacks.

The General Tasks launch follows Lovable's pattern of rapid feature expansion. The company has consistently added capabilities that blur the line between development environment and business operations platform, as previously reported.

For startups juggling Notion for documentation, Figma for design, and Replit or Databutton for development, Lovable's consolidated approach may reduce context switching. Whether this bundled model proves more efficient than specialized tools remains to be seen, but it represents a clear bet on consolidation over best-of-breed.

AI Lets You Build Everything—Here’s Why You Still Never Launch

Tom Wesolowski, owner of NoCodeRefactoring.com, delivers a conference talk exposing how AI's ability to build anything has created a new problem: chronic overbuilding that prevents launches. Using a real marketplace project as a case study, he demonstrates how an 80% scope reduction transformed a stalled four-month development into a revenue-generating product launched in two weeks. The talk provides a practical framework for identifying the minimal viable customer loop and postponing everything else until real user demand validates the need.
