Lovable Free Import Pulls Existing Projects Into Its Builder

Lovable free import lets builders bring an existing app or website into Lovable, rather than starting a new project from scratch. Projects can arrive as a ZIP file, through GitHub or from a website URL.

Once imported, the project can be changed through Lovable’s chat interface. Builders can then publish it and add a database, authentication and payments. Lovable also offers an SEO and growth plan, creative generation and campaign setup from the same product.

The feature was announced in the LinkedIn post, with access available through lovable.dev/free-import.

How Lovable Free Import Works

The import route depends on what the builder already has. ZIP and GitHub cover supported apps, while URL import is for websites.

Import routeWhat it brings into LovableWhat happens next
ZIP fileA supported app packaged as a ZIPContinue changing it through chat
GitHubA supported app stored in a repositoryContinue building inside Lovable
Website URLAn existing websiteImport it into a Lovable project

After the import, Lovable groups the available work into three stages: build, run and grow. The build stage covers conversational changes to the imported project.

Run covers publishing and the services needed around the product. Builders can add a database, user authentication and payments when required. The announcement does not tie these additions to named third-party providers.

From Imported Project to Growth Campaign

The grow stage extends beyond editing and publishing the product. Lovable can produce an SEO and growth plan, then create advertising and social media assets for the imported project.

Campaign setup is also available directly inside Lovable. The supported channels named in the announcement are Google, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. This puts campaign preparation alongside the imported project, rather than limiting the workflow to code and deployment.

The update covers both software projects and existing websites. A builder can import the current work, make further changes by chatting, publish it, add commercial features such as payments and prepare material to help people find it.

Free import adds an inbound route to Lovable for work started elsewhere, while keeping the subsequent building, publishing and campaign setup in one product.

AI Lets You Build Everything—Here’s Why You Still Never Launch

Tom Wesolowski, owner of NoCodeRefactoring.com, delivers a conference talk exposing how AI's ability to build anything has created a new problem: chronic overbuilding that prevents launches. Using a real marketplace project as a case study, he demonstrates how an 80% scope reduction transformed a stalled four-month development into a revenue-generating product launched in two weeks. The talk provides a practical framework for identifying the minimal viable customer loop and postponing everything else until real user demand validates the need.
