Lovable Expands AI Model Support
Lovable, the chat-based software development platform, now supports Claude Fable 5. The update gives users access to Anthropic's latest model for building web applications through conversational prompts.
The announcement, shared via LinkedIn on June 9, adds Claude Fable 5 to Lovable's existing AI capabilities. Users can now choose between multiple models when generating and iterating on their projects, though Lovable has not specified whether Fable 5 will be the default option or how it compares to previous models in performance.
Lovable's core approach lets users build full-stack web applications through natural language. Instead of writing code directly, builders describe what they want in chat, and the platform generates working applications using React, TanStack Start, and other modern frameworks. The platform recently switched to server-side rendering for new projects, as previously reported.
What Claude Fable 5 Brings
Claude Fable 5 represents Anthropic's latest generation of language models, though neither Lovable nor Anthropic have publicly detailed specific performance improvements for code generation workloads. The model joins what appears to be a growing roster of AI options within Lovable's platform.
The timing follows Lovable's recent integration push. The company launched a native Claude integration via MCP Server earlier this month, letting users build and manage Lovable projects directly from Claude's interface. That move signaled deeper collaboration with Anthropic's ecosystem, making the Fable 5 addition a natural extension.
For developers already using Lovable, the new model option appears in the standard workflow, though the company has not published guidance on when to choose Fable 5 over other available models. Lovable's approach differs from competitors like Bolt, Cursor, and Replit, which typically default to a single primary model.
Impact on the No-Code AI Stack
Lovable positions itself in the emerging "vibe coding" category, where AI handles most technical implementation while users focus on product direction. The platform generates production-ready code that can be exported to GitHub, deployed via Vercel or Netlify, and connected to backends like Supabase.
The company recently published research showing that 8 in 10 builders using AI-assisted development tools plan to monetize their projects. Adding model choice could help users optimize for specific use cases, whether that means faster iteration, better code quality, or lower costs, though Lovable has not disclosed pricing differences between models.
Other recent Lovable updates include LinkedIn skills integration, interface language selection across 11 languages, and new app connectors for platforms like Lightspeed Retail. The platform also introduced subagents for parallel task handling and a refreshed visual design.
Lovable has not announced whether additional models from other providers are planned, or whether users will eventually be able to bring their own API keys for model selection.
