Lovable Adds Manus Imports Through Chat and Zip Uploads

Lovable is making it easier to move an existing AI-built project into its development environment. The company now allows users to request a Manus import through Lovable’s chat interface, upload a zip export, and have Lovable build the project from those files.

The capability, announced on LinkedIn, removes some of the manual work normally involved in moving between AI app-building platforms. Rather than creating a blank project and reproducing the original app through prompts, a builder can provide the exported project as the starting point.

How the Manus Import Works

Lovable’s announcement describes a short, chat-led workflow:

  1. Export the existing project from Manus as a zip file.
  2. Open Lovable and ask it to import the Manus project.
  3. Upload the zip export in the chat.
  4. Let Lovable build the project inside its environment.

That process is notably different from a traditional code migration, which can require setting up a repository, installing dependencies and resolving framework or build configuration issues before development can continue. Lovable places the import inside the same conversational interface used to create and modify applications.

The company has not provided a detailed compatibility matrix, however. Its announcement does not specify which Manus project types, frameworks or dependencies are supported, nor whether every backend integration and environment variable can be transferred automatically. Builders should therefore treat the imported result as a new Lovable build based on the exported files, then review it before publishing.

That review should cover the parts of an application most likely to depend on external configuration:

  • Authentication and user permissions
  • API credentials and environment variables
  • Database connections and stored data
  • Third-party services, webhooks and payment flows
  • Responsive layouts, routes and deployment settings

Why Project Portability Matters

AI app builders increasingly compete not only on how quickly they can generate a first version, but also on whether users can continue work created elsewhere. Import support lowers the cost of trying another platform and gives small teams a path to preserve useful work rather than starting over.

For Lovable, the feature could widen the top of its funnel. A Manus user can bring in an existing prototype, then use Lovable’s chat, publishing and project-management capabilities to continue developing it. The company has also been adding features aimed at more durable production workflows, including design systems across all paid plans and app user connectors for accessing individual users’ external data.

The import may be particularly useful for founders and agencies evaluating multiple AI builders during prototyping. A team could begin with Manus, export the result once the product direction is clearer, and move the project into Lovable without manually restating every page and feature. It may also help agencies consolidate client work in one environment.

There are still unanswered operational questions. Lovable has not said whether Manus imports are limited to particular plans, how large an uploaded archive can be, or how the system handles unsupported files. No separate pricing or rollout schedule was included in the announcement. Users working with sensitive code or credentials should inspect an export before uploading it and verify the generated project afterward.

Frequently asked questions

What are Lovable Manus imports?

Lovable Manus imports let a user bring a project exported from Manus into Lovable. The user requests the import in chat, uploads the Manus zip export, and Lovable builds a project from it.

Does a Manus import transfer every integration automatically?

Lovable has not published detailed compatibility guarantees. Builders should check authentication, databases, API credentials, external services and application routes after the import completes.

Which Lovable plan is required for Manus imports?

The announcement does not identify a required plan or separate price for the feature. Users should consult the current Lovable product interface or documentation for account-specific availability.
