Framer MCP Lets AI Agents Build and Publish Sites

Framer MCP now connects external AI agents directly to a Framer project, where they can edit the canvas, manage CMS content and publish the site.

The first LinkedIn announcement says builders can use their preferred AI agent to make changes, create pages and publish from a desktop or phone. The connection runs through Model Context Protocol, the standard that lets AI tools interact with external systems.

Framer’s changelog entry adds more detail. Connected agents can work directly on the canvas and manage CMS content as well as publishing the finished site. Framer has also released an Academy lesson covering the full setup and workflow.

What Framer MCP Can Do

The important shift is where work can start. A site update no longer has to begin inside the Framer editor. It can begin as an instruction to a connected AI tool, including on a phone.

TaskWhat the agent can do
Canvas workMake changes to the site design
Page creationCreate new pages
CMS managementWork with site content
PublishingShip changes to the live site
Remote accessWork from desktop or phone

A second LinkedIn post confirms that Cursor is one supported route. Cursor can design, manage and ship Framer sites through the MCP server, letting builders handle the website from the same environment they use for agent-assisted coding.

This extends Framer’s existing agent work beyond its own interface. It follows Framer Skills, which stores reusable design and content instructions for repeated tasks. Skills guide how an agent should work, while MCP provides a route for external AI tools to act on the project.
