Tally Forms Launches AI Builder to Generate Forms From Scratch

Tally Forms has announced on LinkedIn the beta launch of Tally AI, an AI-powered form builder that lets users generate complete forms from natural language prompts. The feature is currently available to beta users through direct request, with a broader rollout expected in the coming weeks.

The AI builder works in two modes. Users can start with a blank form and describe what they need, or they can open the AI assistant while editing an existing form. The AI interface appears in the bottom right corner of the editor, allowing users to request changes, add new fields, or restructure their forms without manually dragging blocks or configuring settings.

How It Works

According to the company's announcement, the AI builder interprets natural language requests and translates them into functional form elements. A user might type "create a customer feedback survey with NPS scoring" or "add a payment block for $50," and the AI generates the corresponding fields, logic, and configuration.

This approach builds on Tally's existing template library but removes the need to browse and customize pre-built forms. Users describe their goal, and the AI constructs the structure. For teams managing multiple forms or frequently creating variations of similar workflows, this could compress a 15-minute setup process into seconds.

Context and Timing

Tally Forms has been shipping steadily over the past month. The company recently launched a formula editor for advanced calculated fields and added font search to help users navigate its library of 900+ Google Fonts. The AI builder fits into this pattern of reducing friction in form creation, particularly for users who know what they need but don't want to assemble it manually.

The beta rollout suggests Tally is testing how users interact with AI-generated forms before committing to full availability. The company has invited users to DM for access, likely to gather feedback and refine the feature before opening it to all accounts.

Competition and Positioning

Tally competes with Typeform, Jotform, and Google Forms in the online form space. Typeform has experimented with AI-assisted question suggestions, while Jotform offers AI-generated form drafts through its Form Generator. Tally's implementation focuses on inline editing and iteration, allowing users to refine AI-generated forms without leaving the builder.

For users already invested in Tally's ecosystem, including its unlimited forms and submissions on the free tier, the AI builder removes one of the last barriers to rapid form deployment. Whether it becomes a differentiator depends on how well it handles edge cases and complex logic, details that will likely emerge as more users test the beta.

Interested users can request beta access by messaging Tally Forms directly on LinkedIn or through their official website.
