Notion Launches Custom Agent Directory in Library for Easier Workspace AI Management

Notion has introduced a Custom Agent Directory within its Library feature, giving teams a centralized hub to browse, search, and manage their workspace's AI agents. The update transforms what was previously a scattered collection of custom agents into a dedicated, gallery-style interface.

The new directory lives under Library → Agents tab and provides a full-page view where users can see all custom agents created by themselves and their teammates in one place. The update addresses a growing organizational challenge as teams build out multiple agents for different workflows.

A Response to Agent Proliferation

Notion rolled out Custom Agents earlier this year, positioning them as autonomous AI teammates capable of handling entire workflows. According to a recent blog post, the company learned during beta testing that teams were rapidly creating specialized agents for tasks ranging from email management to report generation. As Ben Levick, Head of AI & Operations at Ramp, noted in a case study on Notion's site, "If it's something that's repetitive, we have a Notion Agent for it."

The Custom Agent Directory appears designed to keep pace with this expansion. Rather than hunting through pages or relying on memory to locate a specific agent, teams can now use search and filtering to quickly find what they need.

The announcement follows other recent updates aimed at helping administrators manage AI adoption. Last month, Notion added usage controls and analytics for custom agents, giving workspace owners visibility into how agents are being used across their organization. The directory complements these tools by making discovery and access more straightforward.

What This Means for Teams

For organizations building out their AI infrastructure on Notion, the directory solves a basic UX problem: discoverability. As workspaces accumulate dozens of agents, each tailored to specific departments or processes, finding the right one becomes friction. A gallery view with search functionality reduces that overhead.

The update also hints at Notion's broader strategy around AI tooling. Rather than positioning agents as experimental features, the company is treating them as first-class citizens in the workspace, worthy of their own dedicated interface. This aligns with Notion's pitch to enterprise customers, where AI capabilities like agents, enterprise search, and meeting notes are bundled into business tiers.

Notion has been methodically expanding its agent ecosystem. In addition to custom agents built by users, the platform recently integrated with xAI's Grok via MCP for workspace chat and extended agent functionality to handle email tasks like inbox searches and draft composition.

The Custom Agent Directory is live now for all Notion users. Teams can access it by navigating to Library and selecting the Agents tab. No additional setup is required; existing custom agents will automatically populate the directory.
