Notion AI Meeting Notes Chrome Extension Labels Every Google Meet Speaker

The Notion AI Meeting Notes Chrome extension now assigns a separate speaker label to every participant in a Google Meet transcript. Previously, transcripts split the conversation between just two labels: “You” and “Everyone else”.

Notion shared the change in a LinkedIn post. The extension can now distinguish individual speakers, so the transcript records who made each contribution rather than grouping every other participant together.

How the AI Meeting Notes Chrome extension changes transcripts

The update makes multi-person meeting records more specific. In the previous version, a reader could see what they had said but could not use the speaker labels to separate comments made by colleagues, clients or other attendees.

With individual labels, each line can be connected to the participant who said it. If several people discuss a decision, ask different questions or offer competing suggestions, the resulting transcript preserves those separate contributions. This gives people reviewing the notes a direct way to remember who said what.

The feature applies to the Chrome extension’s Google Meet transcripts. Notion has not described changes to the wording, structure or generation of the wider meeting notes in this announcement. The change announced here is specifically the move from two broad speaker categories to labels for every speaker.

What builders can do with clearer speaker labels

The new labels make the transcript a more precise meeting record. Someone returning to a conversation can identify which participant made a statement without reconstructing the discussion from context. Teams can also distinguish between comments from different attendees when reviewing the transcript after the call.

This is particularly relevant to meetings with more than two participants. Under the old approach, every person apart from the user appeared under the same label. The updated extension keeps those voices separate in the transcript.
