Clay, the data enrichment platform, has built Trakr, a Notion agent that automatically maintains a real-time database of product status and upcoming launches. The company shared the project on LinkedIn, explaining that repetitive questions about feature availability and launch timelines used to clutter internal Slack channels daily.
Trakr addresses this by creating a single source of truth for approximately 10 of Clay's top products. The agent scans both Slack and Notion on a daily basis, identifies when product information becomes outdated, and pings designated directly responsible individuals (DRIs) to request updates. When a DRI responds, Trakr writes the refreshed information back into Notion automatically.
How Trakr Works
The workflow is straightforward. Trakr monitors Slack conversations and Notion databases for product-related information. When it detects that a database entry has gone stale or lacks current information, it sends a notification to the relevant DRI. The DRI can reply directly in Slack, and Trakr processes the response and updates the corresponding Notion database without manual data entry.
Team members can also query Trakr on demand for immediate status checks on any tracked product. This eliminates the need to search through Slack threads or outdated wiki pages to determine whether a feature is live, in beta, or still in development.
Clay credits Smit Vekaria and Abbie Kouzmanoff for building Trakr internally. The tool represents a practical application of Notion's Custom Agents capability, which the company recently expanded with usage controls and analytics.
Notion Custom Agents in Practice
Trakr is an example of how teams are deploying Notion's Custom Agents to handle repetitive information management tasks. Custom Agents can perform multi-step workflows autonomously, pulling context from Notion workspaces, connected applications, and external sources. Notion has been actively promoting these capabilities; the company recently launched an Agent Hall of Fame to highlight workflows built by customers.
Ramp, for instance, has publicly stated that if a task is repetitive, they have a Notion Agent for it. This sentiment reflects a broader trend where operations and product teams are building custom agents to reduce manual coordination overhead.
For Clay, the impact of Trakr is tangible: fewer interruptions, faster access to accurate product status information, and less time spent by DRIs manually updating documentation. The agent handles the tedious parts of keeping internal knowledge current, freeing up the team to focus on customer-facing work and product development.
Notion Custom Agents are available on Business and Enterprise plans. Teams interested in building similar workflows can explore Notion's agent documentation and examples from other companies deploying AI-driven information management tools.
