Bolt Launches Team Templates to Lock Project Foundations Across Workflows

Rebuilding the Same Foundation

Bolt.new announced on LinkedIn the launch of Team Templates, a feature designed to eliminate repetitive setup work across projects. Teams can now create a template from any existing project, lock its foundation, and use it as a consistent starting point for new builds.

The feature addresses a common workflow problem: duplicating projects as starting points leads to drift as teams modify copies independently. Templates maintain a locked foundation while allowing teams to build on top, keeping everyone aligned on structure without restricting customization.

How It Works

Team Templates lets users convert any existing Bolt project into a reusable template. Once created, the template's core structure remains locked. Team members start new projects from the template and build additional features or modifications on top of that foundation.

Unlike duplicated projects, which diverge immediately when edited, templates preserve the original architecture. A design system, authentication flow, or dashboard configuration built once becomes the default starting structure for every subsequent project.

The feature integrates with Bolt for Teams, which previously added security scans, admin controls, and database integrations. Templates extend that team-focused infrastructure by standardizing how projects begin, not just how they deploy.

Why Templates Matter

For teams building multiple apps with shared architecture, templates reduce redundant work. A product team maintaining five customer-facing dashboards no longer rebuilds navigation, API structure, or component libraries for each one. A design system created with Bolt's Design System Agents can now be templated and reused across projects.

The distinction between templates and duplicates matters in practice. Duplicates create independent copies that require manual synchronization if the original structure changes. Templates maintain a single source of truth for the foundation while isolating custom work to each project's unique requirements.

Bolt positions this as solving the "most expensive thing in software," the cost of rebuilding what already exists. Teams using Bubble, Webflow, or other no-code platforms face similar challenges when scaling projects. Templates offer a structural solution rather than relying on cloning or version control workarounds.

Availability

Team Templates is live on bolt.new for all users. The feature works with existing projects and requires no migration. Teams can create templates from any project in their workspace and share them across team members immediately.
