Netlify Launches netlify.new for Zero to One Internal App Development

Netlify has launched a new capability aimed at developers building internal tools with AI assistance. The company announced netlify.new, a service designed to streamline the process of going from concept to initial deployment for internal applications.

The announcement, shared by Netlify on LinkedIn, positions the new offering in the context of what the company calls "vibe coding" and "agentic engineering," terms describing AI-assisted development workflows. The service targets developers who want to ship internal apps quickly without the overhead of traditional setup and configuration.

Part of a Broader AI Push

The launch comes as Netlify continues to expand its AI-focused tooling. In recent weeks, the company shipped support for OpenAI's GPT-5.5 Instant model through its AI Gateway with zero configuration required. The AI Gateway allows developers to call AI models directly from Netlify Functions without managing API keys or authentication, handling caching, rate limiting, and auth infrastructure automatically.

Netlify has also been building out capabilities specifically for AI agent workflows. The company recently introduced Netlify for Agents, focusing on what it calls "Agent Experience" as a bridge between AI-generated prototypes and production-ready applications.

Integration With Stripe and New Database

The internal app focus builds on Netlify's recent partnership with Stripe. Last month, Netlify became a launch partner for Stripe Projects, enabling developers to deploy full-stack applications with a single prompt through the Stripe CLI. That integration brings together Netlify's hosting with Stripe's payment infrastructure, targeting use cases like payment dashboards, subscription management tools, and customer portals.

Netlify also announced Netlify Database in recent weeks, offering integrated Postgres with automatic provisioning and deploy preview branching. The database service includes separate databases for each deploy preview, making it easier to test schema changes without affecting production data.

Developer Tooling Improvements

Alongside netlify.new, the platform has been enhancing its developer experience. The Netlify CLI now includes a netlify logs command that provides filtered access to function, edge function, and deploy logs. The command supports color-coded output, historical queries with time windows, real-time streaming, and JSON Lines format for programmatic processing.

The company has also clarified its stance on AI training data, stating that customer code and content will not be used to train AI models without explicit consent. This comes as developers increasingly evaluate platforms based on data governance policies.

Pricing Changes for AI Era

In April, Netlify announced the end of seat-based pricing, moving to a model it says better fits AI-driven development workflows. The company framed the change as preparing for "3 billion builders," a reference to the potential expansion of software development as AI tools lower technical barriers.

Netlify competes with platforms like Vercel, Railway, and Supabase in the deployment and backend infrastructure space. The internal app positioning may also overlap with no-code tools like Retool and Noloco, though Netlify's approach appears focused on code-first workflows augmented by AI rather than visual builders.

More details about netlify.new are expected to be published on the company's blog and documentation. Netlify has not yet disclosed pricing or availability details for the new service.
