ElevenLabs Partners With Hasbro to License Iconic Character Voices for Commercial Use

ElevenLabs and Hasbro have partnered to launch the first commercial framework for licensing AI-generated voices of iconic characters. Developers and enterprises can now integrate rights-cleared Hasbro character voices including Cobra Commander, Megatron, Col. Mustard, and Miss Scarlett into their products and experiences.

The announcement, shared on LinkedIn, marks a significant step in how entertainment companies monetize legacy intellectual property through AI voice technology. Rather than building internal voice AI infrastructure, Hasbro is using ElevenLabs' platform to create what both companies describe as the first commercial licensing framework for character voices at scale.

Rights-Cleared Voice Assets Now Available

The partnership centers on providing developers with legal access to character voices that have traditionally been locked behind licensing barriers. Hasbro's portfolio includes characters from G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Clue, among other franchises spanning toys, film, games, and theme parks.

ElevenLabs built custom voice models for each character using its voice synthesis technology. According to the announcement, the company detailed the technical process in a blog post, though specific implementation details around voice training data, model architecture, or quality control measures were not disclosed in the LinkedIn post.

The move follows ElevenLabs' recent expansion into AI music generation and enhanced dubbing capabilities, positioning the company as a broader audio AI platform rather than solely a text-to-speech provider.

Commercial Framework Aims to Solve Licensing Complexity

The partnership addresses a persistent challenge in character voice licensing: fragmented rights, inconsistent quality, and complex legal negotiations. By creating a standardized framework, Hasbro and ElevenLabs aim to reduce friction for developers who want to add branded character voices to games, apps, or customer experiences.

Potential use cases include voice assistants with character personalities, interactive storytelling apps, gaming experiences, and branded marketing campaigns. The framework handles both technical integration through ElevenLabs' API and legal licensing through Hasbro's IP rights.

ElevenLabs has previously demonstrated enterprise voice AI deployments, including a partnership with Trainline for customer support agents and education applications like PhysicsWallah's AI tutor. The Hasbro partnership extends this approach into entertainment IP licensing.

Neither company disclosed pricing details, revenue sharing terms, or technical specifications around voice quality, latency, or usage limits. The announcement positions the framework as commercially available but did not specify launch timelines or integration requirements for developers interested in accessing the character voices.

Hasbro's strategy reflects broader industry trends toward monetizing legacy IP through AI-generated content, following similar moves by entertainment companies exploring AI dubbing, virtual influencers, and synthetic media. The partnership tests whether character voice licensing can become a meaningful revenue stream for IP holders while providing developers with turnkey access to recognizable voices.
