Synthetic voice detection is now available in ElevenAgents, giving businesses a way to classify callers as human or AI-generated within the opening seconds of a conversation. The result can then send each caller down a different route.
The LinkedIn announcement describes a growing share of business calls coming from AI agents. Those agents may represent individuals, other organisations or bad actors.
ElevenLabs already supports agents across phone calls, websites, in-app experiences, email, WhatsApp and SMS. The new detection feature focuses on voice calls, where an ElevenAgents deployment can now identify the type of caller before deciding what happens next.
How synthetic voice detection routes calls
The detector analyses speech at the start of the call. It decides whether the voice is human or AI-generated, then uses that classification for routing.
- 1
Analyse the opening
ElevenAgents examines speech from the first seconds of the call
- 2
Classify the caller
the system determines whether the voice is human or AI-generated
- 3
Choose a route
the business sends each caller into the appropriate interaction
Human callers can continue into an experience designed for people. AI callers can be directed into bounded interactions with defined access and behaviour. The release is also intended to help businesses stop bad actors.
The feature adds caller classification to the ElevenAgents platform following the release of ElevenAgents Architect, which creates voice agents from prompts and existing business content.
ElevenLabs joins the Personal Agent Protocol group
Alongside the detector, ElevenLabs is contributing to the emerging Personal Agent Protocol. The working group is led by Meta and Sierra and is developing standards for how personal agents interact with businesses.
ElevenLabs will work on how customers shape those interactions across its supported text and voice channels. The protocol work covers more than telephone calls, extending to websites, apps, email, WhatsApp and SMS.
Synthetic voice detection is the part available to customers now. Work on the Personal Agent Protocol will continue as the proposed standard develops.
