Bubble App Planning Sessions Make AI Builds More Collaborative

Bubble is adding a conversation before the creation. Its new App Planning Sessions let builders discuss, revise and clarify an AI-generated app plan before Bubble generates the application, replacing a largely static planning step with an interactive chat.

The update, announced on LinkedIn, is designed to close a consequential gap in AI-assisted app building. A prompt may communicate the broad concept behind a product, but it rarely captures every permission, workflow or interface decision needed to build something usable. Bubble now asks those questions before committing the plan to an implementation.

Previously, prompting Bubble AI produced a mostly static page listing the features it intended to build. Users could review that plan, but had limited scope to change it before the app was generated. If the AI misunderstood a user role or feature, builders risked starting with the wrong structure and correcting it later in the editor.

Planning becomes a working conversation

During an App Planning Session, Bubble asks targeted questions about how the proposed product should behave. Those questions can cover feature mechanics as well as what particular user roles should and should not be allowed to do.

Builders can then:

  • Select one of Bubble’s suggested responses
  • Write a custom answer when the suggestions do not fit
  • Edit individual features or user stories directly
  • Upload images to communicate a preferred visual direction
  • Watch the app plan update as new answers are provided

That last point matters. The session is not simply a questionnaire attached to an unchanged specification. Bubble says the underlying plan updates with every answer, creating a more iterative path from an initial idea to the app that gets generated.

The option to edit user stories directly should also give experienced product builders more control over scope. A founder could distinguish, for example, between what an administrator can change and what a customer can only view. An agency could use the planning exchange to make requirements more explicit before generation begins. Bubble did not detail whether plans can be exported, shared with collaborators or saved as separate versions.

Why the pre-build stage matters

AI app builders can generate an interface quickly, but ambiguity at the prompting stage often produces rework. A request for a marketplace, CRM or subscription product may leave open dozens of decisions about access, state changes and edge cases. By surfacing some of those choices before generation, App Planning Sessions could reduce the distance between the builder’s mental model and Bubble AI’s interpretation.

Image uploads provide another route for clarifying intent. Rather than describing a layout or aesthetic entirely in text, a user can supply a visual reference during planning. Bubble’s announcement says these images help show the look a builder wants, although it does not specify how closely the generated result will reproduce them.

The launch fits into Bubble’s broader effort to make its AI tooling useful across more of the development process. The company recently expanded its agent so it can build, edit and troubleshoot native mobile apps, while another update made AI Agent approval settings less interruptive by default. App Planning Sessions move that investment earlier, to the point where a product’s requirements are still being defined.

For small teams, the practical value will depend on the quality of Bubble’s questions. Useful prompts can expose missing permissions and unclear workflows. Generic questions may merely add another step. Still, making the plan editable before generation gives builders a clearer intervention point than correcting a completed first draft.

Frequently asked questions

What is Bubble App Planning Sessions?

Bubble App Planning Sessions is an interactive AI planning interface that lets users refine an app specification before Bubble generates the app. Builders can answer questions, edit features and user stories, define role behavior and upload visual references while the plan updates.

How does it differ from Bubble’s previous planning process?

Previously, Bubble AI presented a mostly static page describing the features it planned to create, with limited editing before generation. The new process supports a back-and-forth conversation and updates the plan in response to each answer.

Which Bubble plan is required for App Planning Sessions?

Bubble’s announcement did not specify pricing, plan requirements or rollout restrictions. Users should check Bubble’s AI app builder and official release information for current access details.

AI Lets You Build Everything—Here’s Why You Still Never Launch

Tom Wesolowski, owner of NoCodeRefactoring.com, delivers a conference talk exposing how AI's ability to build anything has created a new problem: chronic overbuilding that prevents launches. Using a real marketplace project as a case study, he demonstrates how an 80% scope reduction transformed a stalled four-month development into a revenue-generating product launched in two weeks. The talk provides a practical framework for identifying the minimal viable customer loop and postponing everything else until real user demand validates the need.
