Framer Upgrades to Sonnet 5 with 90% Accuracy and Lower Credit Usage

Framer has rolled out support for Anthropic's Sonnet 5, positioning the new model as a more capable design partner than its predecessor. The website builder announced the upgrade on LinkedIn, highlighting improvements in layout generation, visual direction, and collaborative editing.

According to Framer's internal evaluations, Sonnet 5 achieved 90% accuracy compared to Sonnet 4.6's 72%, while using 0.6 times the credits of GPT 5.5. The company notes that Sonnet 5 requires more upfront thinking but delivers stronger practical efficiency. Users can take advantage of introductory pricing offering 33% off through August 31.

Better Design Reasoning and Resource Use

Framer describes Sonnet 5 as asking sharper design questions and using images more purposefully when prompts call for visual references. The model also demonstrates improved font selection and more considered writing, according to the company's testing.

The upgrade arrives as Framer continues expanding its AI capabilities through Framer Agent, which can design entire pages, create components, connect to CMS, and handle responsive layouts. Sonnet 5's improved accuracy and lower credit consumption could make these AI-driven workflows more viable for teams managing larger projects or working within tighter budgets.

Context on Framer's AI Roadmap

The model upgrade follows Framer's recent 3.0 release, which introduced Agents, Branching for team workflows, and a redesigned Community platform. Framer has been steadily building out AI features that handle increasingly complex design tasks, from generating responsive breakpoints to analyzing site analytics and suggesting improvements.

Sonnet 5's cost efficiency relative to GPT 5.5 could shift how teams budget AI usage, particularly for design-heavy workflows where iterations add up quickly. The model's stronger collaborative editing capabilities also align with Framer's push toward Branching, which lets larger teams adopt AI tools without disrupting existing production workflows.

Framer users can access Sonnet 5 immediately through the platform's AI features. The company has not specified whether Sonnet 4.6 will remain available as an option or if the upgrade applies uniformly across all AI-powered tools.
