Descript Adds AI Text Animation and Reusable Underlord Skills.

Descript now lets creators animate script text with AI, build branded layout packs, search for clips by spoken words and save successful edits as reusable Underlord skills.

The release tackles the hand-offs around video editing: finding footage, applying a visual system and repeating the same edit across projects. According to Descript’s LinkedIn announcement, 48% of video creators say the number of tools in their workflow increased this year.

Creators can select words in a script and ask Descript’s AI to animate the parts that matter. This starts from the transcript rather than requiring animation work on a separate timeline or canvas.

Layout packs bring brand assets into the same workflow. Descript can generate a pack using an organisation’s guidelines, logo and colours. Underlord then uses that pack to style the video.

This extends the natural-language editing workflow introduced with Descript Underlord.

Spoken-content search lets creators locate footage from its dialogue. Instead of relying on a filename or manually checking recordings, they can search for the words used in the clip.

Underlord skills handle repeated editing work. Once an edit produces the required result, it can be saved as a skill and run again. The saved skill turns that editing action into a repeatable part of a future workflow.

Together, the four additions cover styling, media retrieval and repeatable edits inside Descript. They are designed to reduce exports and re-uploads between stages of the same video workflow.
