Airtable Automations can now run when a field moves from one specific value to another. A workflow can, for example, trigger when a status changes from In Process to Completed, rather than responding to every change made to that field.
The change is part of 15 updates shipped across Automations, Interfaces and Navigation. Airtable’s LinkedIn post also lists record ID matching, totals in Interface Lists, one-click attachment downloads and restored keyboard controls in expanded cells.
Airtable Automations Get Exact Field Change Triggers
The new trigger narrows an automation to a defined transition. A builder can select both the starting value and destination value, such as In Process and Completed.
This separates one workflow stage from other edits to the same field. An automation configured for In Process to Completed will respond to that transition, giving builders a direct event for whatever action follows completion.
Find records has also gained record ID matching. An automation can now use a record ID as the value it needs to match when locating records.
| Area | What changed |
|---|---|
| Automations | Trigger when a field changes from one specified value to another |
| Find records | Match records using record ID |
| Interface Lists | Display totals |
| Attachments | Download every file in an attachment cell with one click |
| Expanded cells | Navigate with Arrow and Tab keys again |
Interface Lists Add Totals and Faster Downloads
Interface Lists can now show totals. This puts an aggregate figure directly alongside the records displayed in a list.
Attachment cells also have a bulk download action. Instead of downloading files individually, users can download every file stored in one attachment cell with a single click.
The navigation update restores Arrow and Tab key support inside expanded cells. Those keys can once again be used while working in the expanded view.
These updates sit alongside Airtable’s broader app-building work, including Airtable Omni Builds Bases Interfaces and Automations from Prompts. This bundle focuses on individual actions inside existing bases, automations and interfaces.
