What to expect

Explore model routing, AI observability and production-ready agents at Merge and PostHog’s technical talks in Flatiron, New York, on 27 August 2026.

The practical side of building AI products

Merge and PostHog are co-hosting an in-person evening focused on what they call the “unglamorous half” of AI products: the technical foundations that need to work reliably once an AI system moves beyond a prototype.

Taking place in Flatiron, New York, the event will examine three connected areas:

  • Model routing , the decisions and infrastructure involved in directing work between AI models.
  • AI observability , understanding what an AI product or agent is doing once it is running, rather than treating its behaviour as a black box.
  • Production data and agent readiness , what must be in place before an autonomous agent is allowed to act on real production data.

The emphasis is not on polished AI demos or broad predictions about the future. Instead, these technical talks address the operational questions that emerge when teams try to build dependable AI products: how systems choose models, how their behaviour can be observed, and how builders decide whether an agent is ready to interact with sensitive, live workflows.

Who should attend?

This evening is particularly relevant to software engineers, AI engineers, product engineers, technical founders and product teams working on agents or AI-enabled applications. It should also be useful for builders moving from experimentation towards deployment who want to think more carefully about reliability, visibility and production safeguards.

No formal experience level or prerequisites have been published. However, the technical framing makes the event best suited to attendees who already build software or have a working interest in AI product infrastructure. Individual speakers and a detailed running order have not yet been listed on the source page.
