A practical responsible AI workshop in Glasgow on 23 October, exploring bias, trust and human judgement through student scenarios. Led by Dr Raneem Knaj, Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow, this hands-on session asks a critical question: when an AI assistant appears helpful, who does it serve well, whose needs might it overlook, and when should a person intervene? Working in small teams, participants will: - Examine and question an AI assistant’s responses - Identify a genuine student need - Create a simple prototype, without coding - Test other teams’ designs using scenarios that challenge their assumptions - Improve their concept in response to feedback - Present what they changed and explain why The workshop is designed for beginners: no coding skills or previous AI experience are required. It will particularly suit students and anyone curious about AI bias, responsible design and the role of human judgement in AI-assisted services. Presented by PauseAI UK and hosted by Bellatrix Hodgson and Joseph Miller, the event takes place from 6:00–9:00pm GMT+1 on Friday 23 October 2026 in Room 432, St Andrews Building, University of Glasgow.
