About this event

What to expect

This virtual PauseAI UK workshop explores how advanced AI could affect local communities and turns concern into practical, local action.

Taking place Wednesday 28 October 2026, 7:30–9:00pm UTC, the session examines the potential benefits of increasingly capable AI models alongside PauseAI UK’s concerns about unpredictable systems improving rapidly and escaping human control.

What to expect

This is a participatory online workshop rather than a conventional talk. Attendees will:

  • Learn how advanced AI may affect individuals and local communities
  • Discuss the role people can play in safeguarding a better future
  • Plan practical steps they can take locally

Hosted by Marcus Simmons, Joseph Miller and Sean, the workshop aims to address major AI safety challenges while offering a hopeful, action-focused space for discussion. No specialist experience requirements are stated.

The event is not suitable for anyone under 15. Attendees aged 15–17 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. PauseAI UK would like to record the session for others to watch; attendees can raise concerns at the start and should be able to disable their camera or microphone and use a pseudonym for anonymity.
