Vercel Makes Vercel Shop Generally Available for Agent Commerce

Vercel Shop is now generally available as an open source Next.js storefront template for Shopify. It gives teams a ready-made foundation for product catalogues, cart management, payments and checkout, with the storefront optimised for people, search engines and AI agents.

The launch addresses a growing mismatch in online retail. Agents can already shop on the web, but most storefronts were designed for human visitors and search crawlers. Vercel Shop presents product information in a form agents can read directly and provides tools designed for them to shop.

According to the launch blog post, Vercel announced general availability alongside Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke at Vercel Ship SF.

What Vercel Shop Includes

The template covers the core parts of a working online shop rather than stopping at product-page design. Teams can use it to display a Shopify catalogue, manage carts, take payments and send customers through checkout.

AreaWhat is included
Storefront foundationAn open source Next.js template for Shopify
Commerce functionsProduct catalogues, cart management, payments and checkout
Shopping audiencesPeople, search engines and AI agents
Commerce SDKShopify’s rebuilt Hydrogen SDK

Vercel Shop is built on Shopify’s rebuilt Hydrogen SDK, which is also generally available. Hydrogen now works across JavaScript frameworks, while Vercel Shop packages it into a Next.js storefront. This gives teams a specific starting point on Vercel without making Hydrogen itself exclusive to Next.js.

Vercel Shop Treats Agents as Shoppers

The central change is that agents are included as a storefront audience from the start. The same shop is designed around the ways people browse pages, search engines index products and agents consume product information.

That includes the full route from catalogue discovery to cart, payment and checkout. Vercel describes agents as first-class shoppers rather than visitors that must work through pages and controls intended only for people.

The template is generally available now, as is the rebuilt Hydrogen SDK. Vercel describes Vercel Shop as open source, so teams can use the template as the foundation for their own Shopify storefront implementation.
