Vercel Adds LaunchDarkly Feature Flags to Its Marketplace

Vercel is bringing feature management closer to deployment. The company has added LaunchDarkly to the Vercel Marketplace, giving teams a more direct route to feature flags, controlled rollouts and product experiments without assembling the integration from scratch.

The integration, announced in Vercel’s changelog, connects LaunchDarkly’s release controls with Vercel’s configuration and developer tooling. Marketplace subscription billing and a streamlined installation process should also reduce the administrative work involved in adding another service to a Vercel-based application.

Feature Flags Move Into the Vercel Workflow

Feature flags allow developers to deploy code without immediately making it available to every user. A team can release a feature to internal testers, a defined customer segment or a small percentage of production traffic, then expand access as confidence grows.

With the Marketplace integration, LaunchDarkly flags can be synchronized into Vercel Global Config and evaluated locally. Local evaluation can reduce the need to contact an external service whenever an application checks a flag, while Global Config provides a Vercel-native mechanism for distributing configuration data.

The integration supports several common progressive delivery workflows:

  • Targeted releases: Teams can serve features according to a user, attribute or segment.
  • Experiments: Product teams can run tests against defined metrics rather than relying only on deployment-level signals.
  • Controlled rollouts: Features can be introduced gradually instead of being enabled for the entire user base at once.
  • Emergency rollback: A kill switch can disable a problematic feature without requiring a new deployment.
  • Flag inspection: Developers can view flags through Vercel’s Flags Explorer in the Vercel Toolbar.

That combination matters for smaller teams because feature management often spans several systems. Developers deploy an application in one service, configure flags in another and then switch to separate analytics or observability tools to assess the result. The new listing does not eliminate LaunchDarkly’s own feature management model, but it places more of the setup and day-to-day inspection inside the Vercel ecosystem.

Setup Still Requires Application Code

Vercel says teams can begin by running:

vercel install launchdarkly

They must then add the @flags-sdk/launchdarkly adapter and declare a flag using Vercel’s Flags SDK. In other words, Marketplace installation handles the connection, but developers still need to define how each flag affects application behavior.

For builders, the practical value depends on release complexity. A simple marketing site may not need dedicated feature management. A SaaS product with multiple plans, customer cohorts or high-risk releases has a clearer use case, particularly when a team wants to test changes in production without exposing them universally.

The launch also fits Vercel’s broader effort to make third-party infrastructure easier to configure from its platform. The company recently expanded CLI setup to more than 100 connectors, while adding token lifecycle observability for Vercel Connect. LaunchDarkly extends that strategy into release governance and experimentation.

Vercel has not provided special pricing for the Marketplace integration in the announcement. Teams evaluating it will therefore need to review the Marketplace listing and LaunchDarkly subscription terms before adopting it. The integration is available through the Vercel Marketplace as of August 11, 2026.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Vercel LaunchDarkly integration?

It is a Vercel Marketplace integration that connects LaunchDarkly’s feature flags and experimentation capabilities with Vercel applications. Teams can synchronize flags into Global Config, evaluate them locally and inspect them through Vercel’s Flags Explorer.

Who is the integration for?

It is aimed at teams that need staged releases, user targeting, A/B tests or a fast way to disable problematic features. It is most relevant to applications where releasing every change to every user at once would create unnecessary risk.

How much does the LaunchDarkly Marketplace integration cost?

Vercel’s announcement does not specify pricing or required plans. Teams should consult the Vercel Marketplace listing and LaunchDarkly’s current subscription terms for billing details.
