Python Code Dojo is a welcoming, biweekly collaborative coding session that brings together Python enthusiasts of all skill levels in Bristol. Whether you're taking your first steps in programming or you're a seasoned developer looking to sharpen your skills, this non-competitive environment encourages learning through practice, peer collaboration, and group reflection. Hosted by Ray and Katie at DeskLodge House, these sessions draw inspiration from traditional martial arts dojos — spaces where both masters and students gather to hone their craft through deliberate practice and mutual support. The Python Dojo embraces this philosophy, creating an inclusive community where knowledge flows freely between participants regardless of experience level. What to Expect Each session follows a structured yet flexible format designed to maximize learning and collaboration. The evening begins with introductions and socializing, followed by a democratic process where attendees suggest and vote on coding exercises. Once the group selects a challenge, participants split into small teams of 2-4 people, ensuring each team includes at least one experienced Python developer who can mentor others. Teams then spend the majority of the session working together to solve the chosen exercise, discussing approaches, debugging code, and exploring different solutions. The session concludes with each team presenting their work — whether complete or in progress — sharing their creative process, explaining the problems they encountered, and discussing how they solved (or attempted to solve) them. This presentation phase is invaluable for learning different approaches and building confidence in explaining technical concepts. Accessible and Inclusive One of the Python Dojo's greatest strengths is its low barrier to entry. You don't need Python installed on your machine — sessions use Replit, an online interpreter and IDE that runs entirely in your browser. All you need is a laptop (recommended but not essential) and access to the Python Dojo Discord server, where you can find previous sessions, code examples, and ongoing discussions about all things Python. The collaborative nature of the dojo makes it an excellent environment for beginners who might feel intimidated by traditional coding meetups. Working in small teams with more experienced developers provides immediate support and mentorship,
