PostHog Launches Convex Integration for Logs, Error Tracking and LLM Analytics

PostHog announced on LinkedIn that its open-source analytics platform now integrates with Convex, enabling developers to route logs, error tracking, and LLM analytics through Convex's backend-as-a-service environment.

The integration marks another step in PostHog's strategy to embed observability and analytics directly into development workflows. Teams using Convex for their full-stack TypeScript applications can now connect PostHog's monitoring capabilities without building custom pipelines or switching between tools.

Why This Matters for Convex Users

Convex provides a reactive backend with built-in database, functions, and real-time sync. Adding PostHog brings three operational layers into that ecosystem:

  • Logs: Capture and query application logs alongside product events, useful for debugging production issues in context.
  • Error tracking: Monitor exceptions and crashes, with stack traces and user context, directly within the Convex environment.
  • LLM analytics: Track AI model performance, token usage, latency, and user interactions for applications using large language models.

For teams building AI-powered products on Convex, the LLM analytics component is particularly relevant. As previously covered, PostHog has been expanding its LLM observability features to trace agent runs and model behavior. This integration makes those capabilities available natively to Convex users.

How It Works

The integration connects PostHog's event pipeline to Convex's data layer. Developers can send telemetry from Convex functions, schedule log ingestion, and query error patterns using PostHog's analytics engine. Because both platforms are open-source-friendly and developer-first, the setup avoids vendor lock-in while maintaining flexibility.

PostHog already supports integrations with platforms like Supabase and Vercel, making this expansion part of a broader effort to meet developers where they build. Convex users who rely on TypeScript-native backends can now add production monitoring without leaving their stack.

What's Next

PostHog has been shipping aggressively around AI and developer tooling. The company recently launched a waitlist for PostHog Code, an AI-powered product editor, and teased an AI agent designed to fix production issues autonomously. The Convex integration fits that trajectory, extending PostHog's reach into the full-stack development layer.

For teams evaluating observability tools, the combination of logs, errors, and LLM metrics in a single integration reduces operational overhead. Whether that's enough to compete with specialized monitoring platforms depends on how deeply teams need advanced alerting, distributed tracing, or compliance features. But for startups and small teams building on Convex, it's a straightforward way to instrument production apps without adding another vendor.

The integration is available now. Developers can configure it through PostHog's official documentation or Convex's integration marketplace.
