Noloco Brings Field-Level Permissions Directly to Data Tables

Noloco has moved field-level permissions directly onto its data tables, making it simpler for teams to control who sees and edits specific information without resorting to spreadsheet duplication.

The change addresses a common workaround in spreadsheet-based workflows: copying files to lock down sensitive data. As teams duplicate sheets and move data between versions, the source of truth becomes unclear and access control breaks down. Noloco's update eliminates that friction by letting users configure permissions where the data lives.

Granular Control Without the Copy-Paste Workflow

The new interface places permission settings directly on the data table itself. Users can now decide which records each person can view, which fields they can create, and which they can edit, all from a single location. According to the announcement, the system offers enterprise-grade security while keeping configuration accessible.

Customer Dan, quoted in the LinkedIn post, noted the level of granularity: "I haven't seen [this] anywhere else. I love the field-level permissions, it's brilliant."

For teams managing client data, project details, or sensitive business information in tools like Airtable or other databases, Noloco's approach removes the need to maintain separate versions of the same data just to enforce access rules.

Part of a Broader Push for Control and Transparency

This update follows several other improvements to Noloco's project and data management capabilities. The platform recently added record history tracking to log every change made to records, and rebuilt Gantt charts to auto-adjust timelines and task dependencies. Together, these features suggest a focus on giving agencies and operations teams better visibility and control over their internal systems.

The field-level permission model is particularly useful for teams that need to share partial access with contractors, clients, or department heads. Instead of creating read-only duplicates or manually filtering data exports, users can now configure granular access rules and maintain a single system of record.

The feature is live now for all Noloco users. The company has not specified whether the capability is limited to certain pricing tiers, though the mention of "enterprise-grade security" suggests it may be positioned as a differentiator for business and agency customers.
