Mailchimp has launched Publish to Mailchimp, a new integration with Canva that lets users share designs directly into the email marketing platform as ready-to-send campaigns. The integration aims to reduce the friction between design creation and campaign deployment, particularly for non-technical teams.
The feature allows marketers to select a Canva design and publish it to Mailchimp with clickable links intact, eliminating the need to manually rebuild email layouts or export and re-upload files. According to Mailchimp's announcement on LinkedIn, the integration uses HTML import to preserve design layouts automatically.
How It Works
Users working in Canva can now click a Share button to send completed designs directly to their Mailchimp account. The designs arrive as formatted emails with preserved layouts, fonts, and interactive elements like buttons and links. This addresses a common workflow bottleneck where marketing teams design in one tool, then manually recreate or adjust those designs in their email platform.
The integration supports a few specific use cases where speed matters:
- Time-sensitive campaigns: Product launches, flash sales, or event announcements where delays between design approval and deployment can cost conversions
- High-volume sends: Teams running multiple campaigns per week who need to reduce production overhead
- Cross-functional collaboration: Scenarios where designers and marketers work in separate tools but need to hand off assets quickly
Mailchimp emphasizes that the integration keeps technical barriers low. Marketers without HTML or coding knowledge can move from approved design to scheduled campaign without involving developers.
Performance Tracking Included
Publish to Mailchimp includes access to Mailchimp's standard analytics suite, which tracks opens, clicks, and conversions. Users can review performance data for campaigns published from Canva using the same reporting tools as campaigns created natively in Mailchimp. This means teams can compare results across both workflows and adjust their design-to-send process based on engagement patterns.
Mailchimp has been expanding its analytics capabilities recently, including a new analytics suite designed to connect marketing activity to revenue that ties campaign performance to bottom-line results.

Positioning Against Design-to-Email Workflows
The integration positions Mailchimp to compete more directly with platforms that offer tighter design and deployment workflows, such as Beehiv and ConvertKit, which have invested in reducing the steps between content creation and sending. By partnering with Canva, which claims over 200 million monthly active users, Mailchimp gains access to a large pool of potential email marketers who already use Canva for social media graphics, presentations, and other marketing assets.
The move also reflects broader trends in marketing automation, where platforms are prioritizing integrations that eliminate manual data transfer and file handling. Similar integrations exist between design tools and social media schedulers, website builders, and advertising platforms.
Mailchimp did not disclose whether the integration will be available across all pricing tiers or limited to paid plans. The company also has not specified whether there are limits on the number of designs that can be published per month or restrictions on email template complexity.
