Donut, the workplace culture platform that acquired Gatheround earlier this year, is hosting a live demonstration of its AI Onboarding Agent on September 11. The session will showcase how teams can build and automate new hire onboarding programs that run directly inside Slack.
The demo, led by Bernardo Núñez, Donut's VP of Product Design, is scheduled for 12:00 PM ET and will walk through the agent's core functionality. According to Donut's announcement, the tool is designed to help HR teams and managers create complete onboarding programs in minutes rather than the hours or days typically required for manual setup.
How the AI Agent Works
The AI Onboarding Agent automates the creation and delivery of structured onboarding experiences without requiring teams to leave their existing Slack workflow. Rather than juggling spreadsheets, email threads, and standalone onboarding platforms, the agent handles task scheduling, check-ins, and new hire engagement within the communication tool most teams already use daily.
The September 11 demo will include a live walkthrough of the agent interface, showing how administrators can configure onboarding programs, and a Q&A session where attendees can ask Núñez about specific use cases and implementation details.
Donut has been expanding its AI capabilities since introducing automated onboarding features. The company launched AI-generated intro messages for new hires earlier this year, and the onboarding agent represents a broader application of that technology across the entire new hire journey.
Why Onboarding Automation Matters
Most companies still run onboarding through a patchwork of tools: HR systems for paperwork, email for communication, project management software for task tracking, and Slack or other platforms for day-to-day interaction. This fragmentation creates gaps where new hires fall through the cracks, particularly in remote and hybrid environments.
By centralizing onboarding within Slack, where conversations and collaboration already happen, Donut aims to reduce context switching for both new hires and their managers. The AI component addresses the time constraint that often leads to inconsistent onboarding experiences, particularly at companies that hire in batches or have limited HR resources.
The live demo format suggests Donut is targeting a broader audience beyond existing customers. Companies evaluating onboarding solutions can see the product in action before committing to a trial or purchase.
Interested teams can register for the September 11 session through Donut's event page. The company has not announced whether the session will be recorded or made available afterward.
