About this event

What to expect

Build an ambitious AI prototype with Gemini or Gemma at Google DeepMind’s full-day hackathon in Singapore on 22 August 2026.

Presented by Google DeepMind with Lorong AI, Build with Gemini Hackathon 2026 gives participants one focused day to turn an idea into a working hack. The event runs from 9:00am to 6:00pm GMT+8 at Lorong AI @ One-North, located at 69 Ayer Rajah Crescent, Level 3 Vidacity.

Rather than prescribing a single challenge, the organisers have created three competition tracks spanning open models, accessibility and experimental AI applications. Cash prizes are available for each track.

Choose your challenge

  • Best Use of Gemma: Explore what Google DeepMind’s open Gemma models can achieve under tight hackathon time constraints. The organisers note that the model family has passed one billion total consecutive downloads and want participants to push its limits.
  • Best Elderly Hack: Build technology that makes it easier for older people to stay connected. This challenge responds to the prospect that nearly one in three people will be seniors by 2030,and to the reality that modern technology is not always designed with elderly users in mind.
  • Most Creative Gemini Hack: Put the newly released Gemini Flash 3.6 to work in the wildest, fastest or most imaginative way you can devise using Gemini.

Who should attend?

This event is aimed at AI builders, developers, product makers and creative technologists who want to test an idea through rapid, practical experimentation. The three-track format accommodates different interests: working with open models, tackling a meaningful human problem, or pursuing a highly original Gemini concept. No specific experience requirement is listed, but attendees should come prepared for a competitive, time-limited day of building rather than a conventional programme of talks.

The hackathon is hosted by Ivan Leo, Adlin Zainal, Sherry Jiang and Lorong AI, in connection with the Google DeepMind Developer Experience Team. Its combination of focused social impact, open-model experimentation and unconstrained creativity offers several distinct routes to a prize-worthy prototype.…
