⌖ Nottingham · Fothergill House

Hosted by DevOps Notts

Explore architecture governance for AI coding agents at Fothergill House in Nottingham on 27 October 2026, from 6–8pm GMT. This DevOps Notts talk presents a financial-services approach to moving governance earlier in the software development process. Rather than relying solely on architecture review boards, deployment failures and late-stage guardrails, the session will show how governance can become part of an AI agent’s reasoning. You’ll learn how an agent can read real policy documents, explain applicable requirements in plain English while a developer is still describing a system, and identify constraints before any Terraform is created. The talk also covers mirroring those policies in OPA/Rego rules, allowing the agent to check its own proposed design before presenting it and enabling CI to verify changes made by hand. The event is particularly relevant to DevOps practitioners, software engineers, architects and teams working with AI-assisted development in regulated environments. No speaker biography or experience-level requirement has been published. Agenda - 18:00: Doors open - 18:30: Talk begins - 19:15: Pizza and catch-up - 20:00: Doors close Hosted by Mica B. for DevOps Notts at CGI Fothergill House, 16 King Street, Nottingham NG1 2AS. ⌖ San Francisco

Hosted by Daytona

Explore practical AI engineering and long-running agent infrastructure at this free Daytona and Oracle evening event in San Francisco. Taking place on Tuesday 20 October 2026, from 5:30pm to 8:00pm PDT, AI Builders brings together people developing AI products, researching algorithms and following the latest advances in artificial intelligence. The programme combines a focused series of technical talks with an extended networking session, creating space to learn how agent systems are evolving and exchange ideas with other builders. Forkable sandboxes for AI agents After opening remarks from Marijan Cipcic, Principal Events Manager at Daytona, Muhammad Annas Hashmi, DevRel at Daytona, will present “Forkable Sandboxes for Long-Running Agents.” The session addresses a growing challenge in AI engineering: agents now install dependencies, edit files, run tests, launch servers and debug across long sessions, yet many systems still treat every run as a disposable prompt-and-response loop. That approach becomes limiting when essential context lives in the machine itself rather than solely in the model’s token history. Hashmi will demonstrate how forkable Daytona sandboxes can help builders: - Pause an agent run at significant moments - Branch an environment from an existing machine state - Sample and compare multiple continuations - Inspect, recover and optimise long-running workflows - Build a more reliable runtime layer for software-building agents Talks, discussion and networking The agenda includes several additional short talks between 5:50pm and 6:50pm. Their speakers and subjects are still to be announced, making this a developing programme centred on AI engineering and current technical practice. From 6:50pm to 8:00pm, the format shifts to networking over pizza and beverages.… Register for this event

EdinburghJS returns to Edinburgh on 20 October 2026 for two practical talks on self-editing websites and internal tools. What to expect This October meetup brings together developers and technologists interested in how modern software can manage content and support work behind the scenes. Across the evening, two speakers will explore distinct but complementary building challenges: - Phil Holden will speak about building a self-editing website. - Alexey Golev will discuss building internal tools. The programme offers an opportunity to hear directly from practitioners tackling real product and engineering problems. The self-editing website session should be especially relevant to people interested in content-driven web experiences, while the internal tools talk will appeal to anyone building software that improves organisational workflows and operations. The event takes place at Perk, which is continuing its sponsorship of EdinburghJS by providing both the venue and catering. Doors open at 6:30pm on Tuesday 20 October, with the meetup running until 9:30pm. Who is it for? EdinburghJS is aimed at developers and members of Scotland’s wider technology community. This edition will be particularly useful for web developers, software engineers, product builders and people curious about practical approaches to websites and business-facing tools. The page does not specify a required experience level, making the meetup a useful place to hear new ideas, compare approaches and connect with other local technologists. Alongside the talks, the in-person format provides time to meet fellow attendees over the catering supplied by Perk. The meetup is presented by the Scottish Technology Club, a community for technologists in and connected to Scotland. The club also runs regular developer events, publishes a weekly bulletin covering events, content and jobs across Scotland, and maintains an active Discord server. ⌖ Brighton · The Walrus Pub

Hosted by Brighton CTO

Brighton CTO’s fireside chat brings technology leaders together on 20 October 2026 to discuss the challenges of running a technology function in Brighton. A candid conversation about technology leadership Running a technology function involves decisions that extend well beyond code. This evening event offers a focused setting in which CTOs and other technology leaders can compare experiences, examine common leadership challenges and hear how peers approach the realities of managing a technical organisation. Hosted by Martyn F. for the Brighton CTO community, the event takes place from 6:30pm to 9:30pm BST on Tuesday 20 October 2026 at The Walrus Pub, 10 Ship Street, Brighton, BN1 1AD. What to expect The event is presented as a fireside chat rather than a formal conference or hands-on workshop. Its central theme is the set of common challenges involved in running a technology function, with the conversation sitting at the intersection of: - Engineering leadership - Technology strategy and organisational responsibility - Chief Technology Officer roles - Leadership within technical teams and businesses No detailed agenda or guest-speaker line-up has been published, so attendees should expect a broad, discussion-led session rather than a tightly prescribed list of talks. That open format makes the evening especially relevant for people who want to explore practical leadership issues with others operating in similar roles. Who should attend? This meetup is aimed primarily at CTOs, engineering leaders and people responsible for technology functions. It may also be useful for senior technical professionals moving towards leadership responsibilities who want a clearer view of the challenges faced at organisational level. The focus is not on learning a particular programming language, AI platform or no-code tool. Instead, it is an opportunity to step back from day-to-day delivery and consider the wider responsibilities of technology leadership. The three-hour evening format provides room for a substantial conversation in an informal pub environment, making it well suited to thoughtful peer exchange within Brighton’s technology community. Places and any further event updates are managed through Meetup. Register for the Brighton CTO fireside chat.
