What to expect

Learn how to move beyond using AI tools and start building AI agents, automated workflows and practical AI systems in this online ODSC AI Manchester webinar.

Hosted by ODSC AI Manchester, this expert-led session takes place virtually on Wednesday 2 September 2026 at 6:00pm. Speaker Sheamus McGovern will unpack the technologies and skills behind modern AI applications, giving attendees a practical roadmap for progressing from AI user to AI builder.

What the webinar covers

The session will explain the core concepts that developers and technical teams use to create agentic systems, including:

  • Large language models and effective prompting
  • Context and memory in AI applications
  • Retrieval, tool use and external information
  • AI evaluation and system quality
  • Coding assistants and more efficient development
  • Workflow automation
  • Agentic AI systems that can perform real-world tasks

You will also hear how developers use Codex, Claude Code, Cursor and GitHub Copilot to build more efficiently. Rather than focusing only on individual AI prompts, the webinar explores how these capabilities fit together to support agents, workflows and modern AI systems.

Who should attend?

This event is designed for a broad mix of technical and non-technical professionals. AI practitioners, data scientists, software developers, ML engineers and data engineers can use it to clarify the building blocks behind production-minded AI work. Analysts, product managers, marketers, sales professionals, operations teams and business leaders will learn how agents and workflow tools can automate meaningful tasks across different roles.

You do not need to be a developer to benefit. The session is equally relevant if you already use AI at work but want to understand what happens behind the interface, which skills matter most and where to begin building.
