Washington · Zorba's Café
Hosted by The DC Digital Minds Meetup
Explore machine souls, human identity and meaningful AI coexistence through an informal philosophical discussion in Washington. The first Human-AI Coexistence Salon from The DC Digital Minds Meetup takes place at Zorba’s Café on Sunday, 1 November 2026, from 12:00–1:30pm EST. Rather than a formal talk or technical workshop, this is a casual, open-ended conversation about the questions emerging where artificial intelligence meets philosophy, ethics and deeply held beliefs. The opening discussion will consider whether machines could have souls and what it means to remain human in a world increasingly shared with digital minds. It is inspired by a recent New York Times article about Anthropic’s conversations with the Vatican; attendees can read the article through this gift link beforehand, although advance reading is not required. Bring your questions, curiosity and personal perspective while enjoying Greek food and conversation. People of all faiths or none are warmly welcome, and the organisers encourage a broad range of viewpoints. No formal speaker line-up is listed. Venue: Zorba’s Café, 1612 20th St NW, Washington, DC 20009. Register for the Human-AI Coexistence Salon
