Nottingham · Foxhall The Poynt
Hosted by Databricks Nottingham Meetup
Learn how a regulated lender governs and broadens access to data on Databricks at this first in-person community meetup in Nottingham. The inaugural Databricks Nottingham Meetup takes place on Thursday 26 November 2026, from 6:00pm to 8:30pm GMT, at Foxhall The Poynt, 45 Wollaton Street, Nottingham. Expect practical data and AI insights, conversation with local Databricks users, and a break for pizza and refreshments. Governing Data on Databricks Ed Ball, Head of Data, Security & Service Management at Oakbrook Finance, will explain how the regulated lender uses Unity Catalog and attribute-based access controls (ABAC) to apply governance policies consistently without unnecessarily slowing teams down. He will also show how that foundation enables more people to access data through Genie, sharing candid lessons about what worked and what did not. Ed has a background in software, data and security leadership, has served as a Data Protection Officer in financial services since 2018, and holds CIPP/E and CIPM certifications from the IAPP. A second talk is still to be announced. The evening welcomes all experience levels, including people working across data, engineering, business and governance. Places are limited. The meetup is sponsored by DATAPAO, with The Poynt hosting. RSVP for the event
