Glasgow · Wee Dram Room
Hosted by Apache Software Foundation Events
Work directly on Apache open-source projects at this hands-on hackathon during Community over Code 2026 in Glasgow, 11–14 October. Hosted by Apache Software Foundation, the hackathon gives new and experienced contributors dedicated space to fix bugs, improve documentation, tackle open issues and help onboard newcomers. The conference runs from 11–14 October 2026, with the Wee Dram Room available for hackathon work from Monday 12 October to Wednesday 14 October. What to expect Each participating project provides a point of contact and a focused task list covering areas such as features, bugs, documentation and good-first issues. Confirmed participants include Airflow, Arrow, Doris, Fineract, Fluss, Gluten, Groovy and Grails, Impala, Magpie, Mahout, NuttX, Spark, Superset, Tomcat and Wayang, alongside other confirmed and tentative Apache projects. The room accommodates up to five projects in each half-day slot. Scheduled sessions generally run from late morning until early evening, with dedicated security periods on Monday and Wednesday. Contributors can sit alongside project maintainers, collaborate on real work and find an accessible route into an Apache community. Projects wishing to participate must supply a coordinator, task list and community announcement. They should initially claim one open slot by submitting a pull request to the comdev-events-site repository. Coordination takes place through planners@apachecon.com and the hackathon ApacheCon Slack.
